What can I grow starting now?

I'm having sooo much fun with my cukes and tomatoes (despite the Early Blight issue) that I'm itching to plant more stuff. Granted its already the end of June, is there anything I can plant now that will have a worthwhile time before fall/winter sets in?

In containers or in ground? In ground any of the squash either summer or winter, okra, peppers if you can find transplants.

Oh, then that will limit your choices substantially. I don't think even 1 squash plant will work in such a small container. Try some chard or kale. They will work in 5 gallons and tolerate the heat.

I bet you can still find seedlings at your local nursery. Peppers, Eggplant and there are smaller varieties of zucchini made for container gardening. My local nursery has a zucchini called EIGHT BALL for containers.

Cabbage (red or short season green) is a perfect fit for 5 gallons, and will give you the most food per area.
