Saturday in the Garden

Hotter than blazes and more of the same for tomorrow. Out in the morning taking pictures, so the lighting is a little off on some of them.

NORTHERN FANCY: This one is growing on me. When I first got it, the color saturation wasn't the greatest. Now that it has been in the ground for two years, It is better.

NIGHT WINGS: The darkest one that I grow.

SCARLET MARIE - Don't grow many doubles, but I like this one. It was a bonus many years ago.

PINEAPPLE BITES: Relatively new for me. If the blooms are like this all of the time, then I am a happy camper.

DRAGON FANG: Another fun one.

SITTING COOL: One of my top 5 Bennetts

PICKING TIME: Another Bennett intro. First time I've posted its picture. I grew it in MD and gave some to my mother-in-law and when I moved to NY I left it behind. Finally got a piece of it last year from my mother-in-law.

NEON FLAME: Bright and attention seeking.

SILOAM RALPH HENRY: I love the bloom, but the plant is slow to increase and does not like to be disturbed. Some of its children fair much better.

Reindeer Antlers is a top red! Mine just finished blooming after weeks. I like its deep saturated color. I like S. Ralph Henry, one I had years ago but moved it one year to a better bed and it slowly declined and died. Neon Flame is a “sunglasses needed” bloom.

Northern Fancy looks pretty for you. I sent mine to Celeste years ago, and it looked so much better for her than it ever did here. I used to grow Scarlet Marie, and it was a nice double. I got rid of most of my doubles and miniatures to make room for seedlings. My favorites are the two Bennetts, Picking Time and Sitting Cool. It looks like most of your are growing Reindeen Antlers now. The color is beautiful, but the shape has never appealed to me.

I love the vibrant look of Reindeer Antlers. Does it fade in your garden? Pineapple Bites looks interesting. Hot here too and muggy.
