It will take courage.

Jackie Kennedy refused to change out of her pink suit splattered with (as she described) the blood and brains of her husband. ”Let them see what they have done.”

Courage. Or die daily by the thousand cuts.

We will visit our parents’ graves. I will plant some forget-me-nots and blue squill. They will, I hope, bloom yearly and pose no inconvenience for groundskeepers.

What are others doing?

This is the picture that had me sobbing. She didn’t survive.

My dad broke into tears one afternoon, when after visiting the grave of his only son who died when he was a teen, he came across the gravestone of another recently departed young man. On the headstone, this:

To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.

My Grandmother lost a 6 month old baby to the Spanish Flu. My mother was 3. She visited the baby's grave many times over the years . She didn't drive and so someone would have to take her and they reported that she cried each time she went. She never got over losing that child.

My sister mentioned this very thing to me. It would probably be more than any parent could bear, though?
