Thanks for the post. As my moniker shows, I'm in west MD, pretty far from its range. I somehow found/ordered one from forestfarm dot com (they only had one). At first it needed support because it was very lanky, but has grown very well in a soggy spot. Softer-looking w/longer needles than close cousin Loblolly pine. Surprisingly, it sheds snow very well. This is 2018, prb'ly 10 ft taller now.

Latest 11-2-22 pic of pond pine from opposite angle in soft late afternoon light. Couple yrs ago looked like it was getting a double leader, but one leader dominated. Some old needles turning yellow -- quite normal in autumn for many conifers. A bit unusual for a pine in that it grows well in heavy, poorly-drained soil.
