The luxurious kitchen has a faux green wall that makes a spectacular feature and adds a burst of life to the space. As the dining area and kitchen are located at basement level with no access to outside space, this faux living wall alludes to the idea of outside space and, when beautifully lit, creates a sense that the room extends beyond its own boundaries.

The peach painted Dutch door opens onto the game table area, where several wood chairs are painted in different bright colors in a complementary palette.
Color, playfulness and whimsy combine to create a casual, welcoming summer retreat for empty nesters who still tell us that when they walk through the door they say “Aaahhh” to themselves. WKD took one large room and created 4 different zones: an airy and bright living room area for conversation, a cozy family room area for reading, a dining room area for family meals, and a game table area for games.
The clients have hired us back for phase 2 - giving the kitchen a complete overhaul.

The working pantry is a blend of new and old-world design. It's soothing greys, dusty greens, and natural color palette is hidden behind antiqued barn doors that were refinished to give new life. The set of antique French doors conceal the butler's pantry and bar area. They were transformed into barn doors and play center stage between the game / family room, kitchen, and dining area.

Lower level was a finished viewing room which would never be used. We ripped it out and added basketball flooring, making a game room for ping pong and pool table. The back end of the room is partitioned with a glass wall and FLOR tiles added to the floor made the perfect spot for the family gym.
Timeless Kitchen Cabinetry
The tall cabinet contains the refrigerator. The panel to the right of the sink is the dishwasher. The sink, island and butcher block are vintage.

Kuche+Cucina
The owners of this home, purchased it from an architect, who converted an old factory, in downtown Jersey City, into a house. When the family grew, they needed to either move, or extend this house they love so much.
Being that this is a historical-preservation building, the front had to remain 'as is'.
Owners hired Fogarty Finger architects to redesign the home and Kuche+Cucina, for the kitchen, closets and the party kitchenette.
Pedini cabinets were chosen, for their sleek, minimal look, in both matte glass and matte lacquer, for different textures.
The work countertop, was done in durable quartz, while the island and the backsplash are real marble.

Old World European, Country Cottage. Three separate cottages make up this secluded village over looking a private lake in an old German, English, and French stone villa style. Hand scraped arched trusses, wide width random walnut plank flooring, distressed dark stained raised panel cabinetry, and hand carved moldings make these traditional farmhouse cottage buildings look like they have been here for 100s of years. Newly built of old materials, and old traditional building methods, including arched planked doors, leathered stone counter tops, stone entry, wrought iron straps, and metal beam straps. The Lake House is the first, a Tudor style cottage with a slate roof, 2 bedrooms, view filled living room open to the dining area, all overlooking the lake. The Carriage Home fills in when the kids come home to visit, and holds the garage for the whole idyllic village. This cottage features 2 bedrooms with on suite baths, a large open kitchen, and an warm, comfortable and inviting great room. All overlooking the lake. The third structure is the Wheel House, running a real wonderful old water wheel, and features a private suite upstairs, and a work space downstairs. All homes are slightly different in materials and color, including a few with old terra cotta roofing. Project Location: Ojai, California. Project designed by Maraya Interior Design. From their beautiful resort town of Ojai, they serve clients in Montecito, Hope Ranch, Malibu and Calabasas, across the tri-county area of Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles, south to Hidden Hills.

The Old Oyster Retreat is a home inspired by our clients wish for a light, bright, open home that had design roots in the Low-country but also exhibited a thoughtfulness and simplicity in its detailing. Open rafter tails, bays supported by brackets, and eave and rake supports of vernacular design take a more formal massing and create a classic yet playful aesthetic.

From the accent pillow on each twin bed to the furniture that the homeowner's Dad grew up with, we were inspired to create this retro child's guest room. Children at play with wooden pull toys and balls(circa 1930's vintage fabric) decorate the accent pillow fabric in colors of primary red, ecru, black, gold and emerald/teal green. In keeping with our inspiration, the beds were outfitted with ticking stripe dust ruffles, chenille bedspreads and topped off with bright red quilts. A vintage game board and canning jar filled to the brim with old colored glass marbles just add to the charm and fun!
