“5 or 6 years we made a decision to relocate to Vermont and build. We interviewed several designers/architects and almost instantly had connection with Ray, he seemed to be what we needed. Our process was a long one, but Ray stuck with us. We stopped the project after for a while after we started with Ray and wasn't sure we'd come back. After a year or so we knew we wanted to jump back in. Ray picked us back up immediately. His attention to detail you'll find unmatched. He is great at suggestions and also adapting to his clients ideas. Soon after we started back we lost our builder. He helped us set up interviews and select a new builder. We started back up at the beginning of the covid pandemic , but Ray worked with us and we managed to visit door/window, flooring, countertops and cabinet vendors with his assistance. he was with us every step of the way. We were lucky to get one of the better builders in upper Vermont and he was very complimentary of Ray's attention to detail and guidance. Ray saw the project to its completion. We've been in over a year now and could not be happier with our finished product.”

“Cushman designed and oversaw construction of my small inn, sterling Ridge Inn. The design was economical and sited perfectly with the natural beauty of the meadows, woods, and spectacular mountains. Inside, on the porches, or in the grounds, one felt comfortably connected to the nearby natural beauty. Everything, from the convenience of the kitchen to the light and comfort of the cathedral ceiling living room gave great comfort to the inkeeper (me), as well as my guests.”

We asked Brown and Davis to explain the process to us and help us understand exactly how it would work. They exceeded our expectations in that regard from introduction to construction finish. The design that they came up with took 100% of our functional needs and aesthetic direction into consideration and turned it into a modern, practical and livable space that we never could have imagined on our own. “Ray Boutin provided all the design work and most of the supervision on a significant home improvement project on our new house in Hyde Park, Vt. As the chief designer for Vermont Vernacular, the firm that did the work, Ray was our key contact and an outstanding collaborator for us. He was exceptionally creative, imaginative and thoughtful, and a great pleasure to work with. And he paid careful attention to all details. We were so pleased with Ray's work and the job that Vermont Vernacular did for us that we are hiring Ray and his firm to do a major addition to the house this spring. All the workmen that VV and Ray brought onto the job were skillful and very good to work with. We have just moved to Vermont, and we were a little nervous about taking on a construction project when we don't know the territory.
