Donald S. Richardson AIA
Attic Conversion Contractors in Providence

“Don Richardson was such a pleasure to work with as his design, creativity, knowledge and professionalism were brilliant. Several times, Don went the extra mile (literally) to bring samples, discuss decisions and patiently explore alternatives. His rapport with the crew was fabulous and led to very smooth execution of the project, basically a guest house on our property for our extended family. Don designed the bedroom of our young grandson as a totally sweet cabin room with a stunning view of the trees around it. Our grandson woke up the first morning in his new room, whispering to his mother that he was in the middle of a forest!”

“Joe Fournier did some great architectual design work on two large projects we did. A large remodel on one property and an almost complete rebuild on a second property. Joe acted as GC on the second job and did a wonderful job keeping things moving, helping us get good decisions made in a timely fashion and working closely with all the trades to ensure the work was coordinated and of high quality. The transformations to our properties were hugely successful and Joe was instrumental in helping us get to a place where the homes work so much better for our lifestyle. Highly recommend Joe's work (and already have several times).”

“We did a complete gut and remodel of almost our entire home, and Aimee did all of the design work, from conception to execution, including the kitchen and great room, two bathrooms, 3 bedrooms. We had the best experience, from start to finish. She got to know us and had an amazing understanding of our style, and was able to make suggestions and streamline the whole process. We couldn't be happier with how it came out. We get continuous compliments from everyone who sees our house, particularly on the kitchen, and have recommended Aimee and Jaz Design to everyone we talk to.”

“This review is made on behalf of Jesse (Sensitive Information Hidden) at Voussoir Architecture. Jesse has worked many months on the project of my house in Eugene, OR., an old house whose foundation needed to be redone and the new basement was made into a liveable space after the house was raised. I live in France and Jesse has supervised the team working on the house, has helped me over the months making informed choices or understanding the work being done. He has always been so helpful and knowledgeable, despite his very busy schedule. He was able to always prioritise my needs. He would reply to my email from France right away, despite the 9 hour time difference. He worked diligently with the city of Eugene in order to obtain the many permits that we needed for the project. Jesse is so talented as an architect and the aesthetic outcomes were refined and were met in all possible details. He seems to prioritise these outcomes over profit. He treated me very kindly and helped me, knowing how stressful it is to oversee a project when you live so far away. I know for a fact Voussoir is extremely lucky to have Jesse Elliot as one of the Architect of this firm. This project was completed successfully after 11 months thanks to Jesse and no details was neglected. This review is genuine: I could not have had a better architect for this work. I recommend Jesse without any hesitation and wish him the best in his career.”

“Michael was a joy to work with for our remodeling project. He was patient, responsive, and highly collaborative throughout the whole process. His creativity and design acumen helped us to solve some complex layout problems, and to connect the indoors and outdoors in an original and impressive way. In addition to the overall plan, he also designed smaller components that needed his knowledge and attention to detail, including a lighting scheme, shelving system, and custom outdoor furniture. He helped us to research unfamiliar building materials, and provided ample design ideas that we shared using an online file folder. The end result was a space that works beautifully for us and is superior in every way to what we had before. Michael's familiarity with the remodel process from soup to nuts made it possible for him to interface effectively with all the contractors, vendors, and specialists (such as the structural engineer that we needed). He made timely suggestions that improved their work and guided our choices as things unfolded. I highly recommend him for any significant remodel project like ours and smaller jobs that require smart, elegant, cost-effective ideas.”

“As an architect, I had a delightful experience working with Vincent and Will to document existing conditions for a couple of renovation/addition projects that I'm working on at Katie Hutchison Studio. They were highly professional, attentive to detail, and thorough.”

“Michael is a very capable and creative architect. I had the good fortune of acquiring his professional help and contracted with him to expand the first level of our “cape” house in Mattapoisett. We originally thought of modifying a previous family room addition to use as the basis of our new plans. Michael looked into that structure and determined that because of some floor issues and wall cracks that it was not structurally sound enough to use. I had full confidence in Michael’s recommendation; so, although it would cost more to destroy that structure and start over, we agreed. As the first phase started, my contractor ran into a very disturbing issue where the foundation of the initial addition was unstable. Michael was correct in his analysis. Michael is very thorough and meticulous. I highly recommend Michael Silva as your architect.”

“I am delighted to give my strongest possible endorsement to the architectural work of Shelly Wood Ziegelman. We worked together on four projects in the past six years: my extensive house renovation and, at Harvard University, two office redesigns and space planning for a first floor public space. The results were all spectacular (see below). In all four projects Shelly maintained excellent working relationships with contractors, trades people and involved Harvard personnel. This is a remarkable testament to Shelly's warm respect for everyone she works with which, naturally, is repaid in kind. In summary: I live every aspect of my life in wonderful surroundings that have been created by Shelly Wood Ziegelman. I consider this a great blessing and I am delighted to recommend Shelly to anyone who wishes to be similarly blessed. My association with Shelly began with extensive renovations on my house: extension of internal dining room and bedroom areas to include space previously devoted to exterior porches; conversion of the attic into an entirely new space for office or guest accommodations; creation of a ground floor bathroom; and complete renovation of a second-floor bathroom. Shelly's designs were elegant and beautiful, enhancing and modernizing the spaces while remaining true to the 100-year-old style of the house. The newly created third floor space incorporated light, space and a spectacular view and is now the nicest space in the house. Shelly worked seamlessly with me, matching her suggestions to my taste while concomitantly minimizing cost. She is extremely knowledgeable. For example, she knew specific features to accommodated my elderly mother's physical limitations. Shelly always kept the issue of her time and the costs of her services in clear perspective, up front, so there were no surprises. I next asked Shelly to assist in three projects related to my professional circumstances as Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Harvard University. (i) She did a total gut re-design of my office, creating a lovely, light, well-configured space accessorized with the perfect furniture and curtains that provided privacy without blocking light. (ii) When I moved, Shelly designed my new office, in a smaller space and an unforgiving location, again to spectacular effect. Everyone who enters, including my colleagues, says "what a wonderful office". Essential features were somehow included in a light, open space. (iii) My move also placed me on a wide, empty airport-like corridor. I asked Shelly to help create a friendly space, which she did. In all three projects, Shelly maintained an excellent working relationship with involved Harvard personnel (including architect John Hollister), exhibiting all of her unique professional skills in full force.
