“What I Wrote below for my initial recommendation is very different to what I'm going to write now. Gert Mathiesen passed away suddenly last week - A big hole now resides in our hearts. Since I heard the news this morning of the passing of Gert, I can’t get it out of my mind – the thought that he knew something most of us don’t. You see… he walked around every day being happy. ‘Just happy. This man did not waste energy on negative thoughts or emotions. It was as if each day was precious – because it was. He must have instinctively known this. So what did he do with his emotions? He made drawings and paintings. Boy, did he! Imagery and colors that insisted to be looked at…one could never ignore them. When I first met his wife Pam, I thought her art was the most colorful, vibrant and happy pieces I’d ever seen…until I saw Gert’s work. It was as if the colors he laid on the paper and canvas were saying…”Whatchu lookin’ at fool? You act like you nevah seen colors as bright as this before! Well, I’m here to tell ya these colors exist in nature and I’m putting ‘em right here before your eyeballs just because I can…and because I’m not afraid to. This was one of the good guys taken too soon. While the world and those who knew him lost the vibrant and singular works he would have surely created down the road, there is still the treasure trove of work that Gert has already made. They are also very easy to work with and will create a custom piece for the same price point (determined by size and medium) as they sell their existing piece for.
