The original painter/artist had moved out of state and I had nicks, scuffs and holes through my large home. He masterfully matched at least 4 different faux-painted surfaces and the results were as good as if the original artist had done it. “As accent tiles for a master bath shower, I sought the lustrous matte glazes of the sort that Pewabic Pottery in Detroit is known for, but I wanted to work more closely with an artist -- I mean, how many do-overs of our master bath do I get in one lifetime? (Husband says this is it.) Two other reasons I chose Potawatomi: the palette of glazes and the originality of the artist's decorative tiles (which I didn't use but very much liked) and of the architectural moldings, which I did use. A couple things I know about tile-making are that it's very much an organic product, and that surprises (good and not-so-good) can happen in the kiln. Owner and lead designer Kelly Schwanitz went through several iterations to get the exact blue-green shade that matched her glaze sample and my expectations. Getting it right was like a quest for her, and I loved being part of it. One more thing: For the moldings, she anticipated perfectly the sizes that would be needed for the trapezoid-shaped and for blending with the field tiles and provided numerous extra tiles in case the actual fit was different.”

“The artwork done by Beth Covert for our new home is absolutely beautiful! She painted the master bedroom vaulted ceiling to look like clouds! Needless to say, when one looks up, it is as if the roof has opened up and the sky surrounds the room! In another bedroom, she designed a large white tree where two walls meet...the branches spread out over the two adjoining walls and it is truly the focal point of the entire room! The plan is to hang photos of the grandchildren on the "tree". Beth has a style and sense of what her clients want and she does it with flair!”
