“I would highly recommend Mariola bros. Construction...Joe,(Mariola), has assisted us with everything from the build-out of a local foods market,(2008-2009) to the fit -out,trim and finish of our home. There is no aspect of building or construction which he does'nt excel at.He comes with a well equipped tool-bag, and has the skill set to match.Perhaps his best attribute is his attention to detail, never settling for good enough...If you want it done, and done right, I recommend calling Mariola bros. Construction!”

DeLarue Building Co.
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsApril 11, 2015
“Mr. August DeLarue was the construction supervisor when my house was built in Salida in 2010. The house was constructed in one of the nicer neighborhoods in Salida. I was interested in a house that was close to net-zero source energy, which required modifications to the original design. I engineered the changes for lower energy consumption, and for solar energy collection, but meeting the goals required very careful attention to detail, like sealing every penetration of pipes or wiring not only from inside to outside, but also through every stud in the structure. Further, the exterior studs were sealed where the OSB meets the studs. This sealing results in low air leakage as measured by blower door tests. Mr. DeLarue worked with the subcontractors to make sure this work was done carefully and completely. Mr. DeLarue was a pleasure to work with throughout the construction process, and the attention to detail and house energy performance exceeded expectations. Details for the house construction with many pictures are provided at www.residentialenergylaboratory.com.”
Fish Builders of Colorado, Inc.

“Fish Builders of Colorado built my home, and later my barn/garage, starting in June, 2009. From the start, Greg Follet, President, and his crew were professional, friendly, and a pleasure to have as our builders. We were first-time home builders and Greg was very helpful in making sure we understood every detail and decision along the way. He knew we were on a tight budget and helped use make decisions that would keep the costs with reach. His estimate at the start of the project was within 1% of the final cost. Our house could be considered a small and relatively simple, compared to some larger and more elaborate ones. Some contractors might prefer to work on larger projects with a bigger budget. But Greg treated us and our project no differently than any other client, and made us feel that our house was as important as any other - a very nice feeling. Building a home is a long process with many decisions along the way, so it is essential to have a good working relationship with the builder and crew. Greg and I could call and talk at any time and discuss issues in a matter of minutes. The crew was also very helpful in making suggestions about how things should be done or could be improved. Greg's business model was very simple and easy to understand. All invoicing and billing was done once a month. Upon my review and approval, bills were paid by my construction loan bank. The quality of Greg's and his crew's work is exceptional. I am involved in various types of building and craftsmanship and I can say that every time I am in the house, I am impressed by how things were done. It is a pleasure to look around and see the things they took the time to do right. Greg's dedication to environmental and energy savings methods are also much appreciated. The house is very tight, well-insulated, energy efficient and very easy and inexpensive to heat and keep cool in summer. Several things stand out in working with Fish Builders - Greg's relationship with the sub-contractors. If subs like working with a certain general contractor, things tend to get done quickly, correctly and professionally. I didn't appreciate the importance of this aspect of home construction until saw how the Greg and the subs work together. Perhaps this is also a benefit of working in a smaller-market, but I think Greg's style and personality have a lot to do with it. The same comment can be made in woking with the project architect. Greg and our designer had an excellent working relationship and could easily discuss issues as they arose. Secondly, no project of this magnitude is without some changes or mistakes, so how a contractor deals with them is a key factor in making the project run smoothly. Greg's approach is always friendly, analytical and businesslike - he addresses issues and finds several solutions, and never lets a situation get more complicated than need be. In the early planning stages, I got bids from five companies - as usual, some too high, some too low. Fish Builders gave an appropriate and reasonable bid, which we accepted soon after our initial meeting with Greg. It was clear to me I wanted to work with Greg and his crew, especially after visiting one of his projects in progress and seeing the quality of his work. I could not be more proud to say that Fish Builders of Colorado built my home. I welcome anyone to come visit and see first-hand the work they do.”
Jenkins Homes Inc.
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsJuly 30, 2013
“We contracted with Chris Jenkins to build our retirement home in Canon City, Colorado. At the time, we were currently living in Ohio and thus, built our house "long distance" working with Chris via telephone and email. Even before we had committed to Chris, he spent many hours with us designing the home and helping us pick out a lot for our house. The construction of the house was done in a timely manner, meeting all of our planning needs. From the quality perspective, the house is exceptional. We routinely get comments on the beauty and quality of the house. We have lived in the house for 2 years now and have no issues whatsoever. Chris has been also very helpful in a few small projects that we wanted to do as we continue to make the house our home. Working with Chris was a great experience. This was the first house that we had built and we had some apprehension. From the very start (before contract), Chris made the project an enjoyable experience. He was very helpful as we worked the design and his long experience in the building trade definitely played out in the design and quality of our house. He listened to our ideas and converted those rough ideas into a home that we are extremely pleased with. He was very accommodating as we made some changes during the process. I have absolutely no reservations in recommending Chris and his team. We will continue to use them if we have other building or remodeling needs in the future.”
