“Birdseye has been amazing from start to finish. The project began 2.5 years ago, we were living in London and building in Vermont, we wanted a Vermont Architectural Firm and discovered Birdseye. We had a basic concept of a 'Modern Barn' they brought the concept to life brilliantly. It was an amazingly collaborative process, dozens of decisions throughout the building phase. They were respectful and accommodating when we felt strongly about something but we could also count on them to give their professional perspective if they disagreed. The project is now complete, I would recommend Birdseye without hesitation. This is not the only amazing house they have designed but you really sensed their professional pride and excitement in what they do. Also, they are really super people to work with and we enjoyed the engagement in every step of the process. The second best decision we made was to contract with their construction side of the business, equally as amazing!”

“After we bought a house in Stowe Vermont in 2011 we hired Patterson and Smith to do extensive renovations for our home, knowing that they had originally built the home in 2000. We extended the house to provide for a new entry and mudroom, and expanded and completely remodeled the master bath. The work was all completed with excellent workmanship, in a timely fashion, and within our allotted budget. Shap Smith was a pleasure to work with, expecially considering our permenant home is St. Thomas, VI, so we could not be present during the construction period. We got updates and pictures regularly, and when we arrived back in Stowe for Christmas everything was complete, working, and clean!”

One was a complex circular three story design, where curves that are difficult to build were executed to perfection. Both houses have been published in national magazines. “Denis Bourbeau came highly recommended to us, and we are passing along the praise! Denis worked with us for almost a year looking for the perfect spot to build our home. Our build started May 1st, with an anticipated completion date of August 7th. Currently, they are right on schedule, which we know by email updates and our online building calender. Bottom line, Denis' communication is superb! He has kept us in the loop from the very beginning to ensure a smooth, stress-free experience. Initially, Denis uses a 3-D CAD program to design your home with you to meet your needs and budget. You then have access to an online program for quality housing selections and to keep track of your budget, all of which continue to help to make building as stress free as possible! Overall, Denis is organized, thorough, and easy to work with. We can provide an update once our construction is completed, but so far we have been nothing but impressed with the whole process. It's rare that I hear people talk about building as being a pleasurable experience. Denis (and his crew)our out to change that perspective, and doing a fabulous job at it! It is a very rare to find craftspeople who are also eager to build houses that work as truly integrated high performance buildings, but it's a testament to Shelterwood's desire to build houses that are high quality both inside and out. They milled white pine from the project site into beautiful wide plank flooring with the same excitement as they dove into the technical aspects of Passive House energy metrics.
