“We used Anya about a year ago toward the end of the building of our home. She helped pick out all the light fixtures for the entire house. I wish I had found her sooner!!!! I could have saved a lot of time, energy, and sanity! I was completely overwhelmed by all the decisions that building a house requires when they asked for all the lighting choices. I had no desire to pick out one more thing and yet knew I’d regret not spending time on such a prominent part of our house. Anya was perfect! She allowed me to be as involved or not as I wanted. She quickly figured out my style and never tried to talk me into anything that I wasn’t sure about. She has amazing connections and it was fun to see her in action with other professionals. Anya ended up also helping us with, what we now call our “homework nook.” It is a little restaurant booth just outside our kitchen. We had talked to many other professionals and designers and no one was catching the vision but we were certain it was what we wanted despite the skepticism. “Have you ever felt that your house needed to make the ever-important transition to a "home"? Have you struggled with the details...the orientation of the furniture, what accessories to buy, how to display items on shelves? Have you ever looked at your attempts to decorate and recognized too many matching fabrics, disproportionate shapes or sizes of furniture or an empty wall that you can't find the right frame for? The ease at which Sherri can solve all of these problems for you is remarkable. She has a natural talent for design; one that I have yet to find in anyone else. You can tell the difference between a designer who follows a regimented training and rules for design versus someone who can walk in a room and intuitively make adjustments that leave you knowing that was the way it always should have looked. Sherri is the latter type of designer. I moved into a new home several years ago and was not very happy with the circumstances of my move. It was stressful and the last thing I wanted to do was decorate my home but I knew that was one way in which I could feel like this new place was mine and that I could be happy there. Sherri came to the rescue and took my existing furniture and accessories and moved them throughout my home to make inviting, visually interesting spaces. She asked me at the start if I had any favorite knick-knacks or items I wanted displayed in prominence and she found special places for those where I would be able to look at them often. We had a very minimal budget with which to purchase new items. With a shopping and design proficiency like any professional you've seen on HGTV, Sherri bought a few items to compliment what we already had. The results were a welcoming, comfortable, very home-y environment that felt totally my own. The extra accessories purchased did not feel fake as if we had bought them just for the purposes of decorating. They filled in between my own possessions as if they had been there all along. The furniture layout was inviting and practical. Sherri works with ease and efficiency. She swooped in and got to work without needing anything from me. I knew if I told her I didn't like something that she would adjust it until I did, with no fuss or frustration from her end. Her goal was obviously to create the environment that I would be comfortable in and not just a fashionable space that she thought looked good, but that held no purpose or comfort for me. One of Sherri's strongest suits is getting creative with your existing furniture and accessories. She is a pro at refinishing furniture. She is a darn good artist as well and could easily (perhaps with a smile and extra "please") whip out some faux finishing on your walls or maybe some decorative accents like trees cascading up the wall of your staircase or a grapevine above an entryway. Regardless of if your project is small (you just want your existing items to be displayed better?) or big (you need all new furniture but you don't know where to begin?), Sherri is your gal. She can work with any budget and she will truly make your house a home.”
