“We hired 314 because we had particular ideas about what we wanted, but recognized that we were amateur designers. 314 was terrific. First, they listened intensely. Then they turned our ideas into a holistic approach to something as underwhelming as a totally new master bathroom. We are in our mid 70's, and we're increasingly frightened over a shower door system which could easily have tripped either of us. Then, the floor tile was as slippery as can be. A large whirlpool tub was impossible for us to enter or exit without fear. Finally, we need support bars to retain our balance. All this 314 took on board and began narrowing down our needs and the trade-offs we might face. When we suggested a particular product, they did their homework and either agreed or offered a better idea. Their patience with us was admirable. The outcome was far better than we had envisioned. When omy wife found heavy-duty hand holds which masked the fact that they were safety items by looking natural or decorative, 314 easily incorporated them into the common design. As work progressed, 314 periodically monitored both parts and labor. Together with the builder, they fashioned a bathroom that looks terrific, is more safe than any we have seen, and which fits our needs at our age. The keystone of the design is a large shower with nothing to trip over, and with tile that looks great and is not slippery, with three distinct shower heads. New cabinets and sinks are striking. The lighting is excellence. The towel heater is very pleasant, and the walk-in jacuzzi is a tub that is easily used and comfortable. Finally, the floor is heated. All in all, their design, the choices, and their attention to detail has resulted in a room that is functional and delightful for a couple of any age. Only we and 314 know which fittings really can hold 500 lbs of pull. We feel completely safe and delighted with the design. Thanks much, 314!”

“I used the services of J. F. Johnson Lumber Company in Millersville, MD during the extensive renovation of a 28-year-old house that included a kitchen and two bathrooms. The kitchen was relocated and expanded to allow more storage and eat-in capability. It also serves as the focal point of an open-plan design. Kate Johnson, Kitchen Design Specialist, provided excellent consultation on the kitchen design. She took draft plans developed by an architect and enhanced these greatly, designing a beautiful, functional kitchen that is the hallmark of the house redesign. The high quality construction of the Starmark maple cabinetry, Berenson hardware, and Emerald Pearl granite countertops, along with the ample storage and workspace, makes working in the kitchen a joy. Kate Johnson also provided expert design advice for two moderate-sized bathrooms, resulting in highly functional bathrooms with clean design and ample storage. I am very pleased with all of the furnishings (Aristokraft Thermofoil white vanities, Waldorf cultured marble countertops, medicine cabinet, and Berenson hardware) used in both bathrooms. Kate Johnson was very easy to work with, patiently guiding me through the myriad of design options available, providing timely design revisions, and helping me make the best decisions for my budget and requirements. She worked closely with my contractor, Home Professionals, to resolve all issues during the construction phase. I am also very pleased with the follow-up work Johnson and Johnson Lumber provided after project completion, to address various issues that naturally come to light after moving into a house. From design to completion Matt and his staff and crew exceeded our expectations. They listened to our needs, were responsive to our phone calls and emails, made excellent recommendations for cabinets, tile, plumbing and countertops and completed the job on time. We were never surprised by changes or delays, as we were contacted in advance whenever necessary. They do not subcontract the work except for the plumbing so the installers are accountable to the owner, a model that is all too rare. We did have an issue with the initial plumbing design and installation, but Matt addressed it immediately and had the plumbers properly install the new shower stall infrastructure. Their crew are technicians and artists. They took pride in their work, creating a remodeled master bath of which we can be proud.”
