Did I make a mistake?

I have an established Jackmanii and a Gurnsey Cream in the corner of the fence. I wanted to put a in a plant to shelter the clematis's roots so I bought a rhododendron. Later I remembered that they like acidic soil. The clematis's are planted very close so I wondered if the acidic fertilizer will be a problem for them. What do you think? Should I move the rhodi?

You don't need to shelter Clematis roots.

They need mulch and even moisture.

Having said that Rhododendrons are shallow rooted and acid fertilizer should not be a problem.
