Discover the Power of Prisms
Bring a touch of the sublime to your room designs with light-bending beauties that harness a spectrum of color
I have a thing about rainbows, so it stands to reason that I also love prisms. My mom always had a few of them hanging in our kitchen window when I was growing up, and I still recall the dabs of vibrant color that dotted the wall in the afternoon sun. The way prisms bend and scatter light gives even the humblest room an air of the sublime.
This is one of the most innovative, striking architectural features I've seen in a long time. A prismatic glass box throws shards of light across the floor, and its reflectivity creates the illusion that the exterior contents are inside the space.
A prism-effect mirror bounces light in all directions and reflects a kaleidoscope of color from the furnishings and walls.
A clerestory window highlights the celestial effect of twin prism sconces.
Tiny beveled cabinet knobs illuminate and elevate these worn, weathered doors.
Anthologie Quartett Cellula Ceiling Light
This reminds me of the kitchen prisms from my childhood. The lighting fixture is a fresh twist on the traditional chandelier with prisms dripping down.
Dwellings Color Prisms
Colorful prisms look as striking on their own as they do when the light shines through them.
