By taking down a wall to the living room and converting the back hallway to a pantry inclusive of the kitchen space, we created a gathering-friendly more functional space for this family that loves to entertain. The existing kitchen was completely remodeled to create a compact chef's kitchen. The client is a true chef, who teaches cooking classes, and we were able to get a professional grade kitchen in an 11x7 footprint, complete with an island! The South wall is the exposed brick original to the 1900's home. To compliment the brick, we chose a warm nutmeg stain in cherry cabinets. The retro pendants are oversized to add a lot of interest in this small space. The dining set adds rustic charm with a distressed and gray finish. This dated kitchen needed a spruce up. By refinishing the existing cabinets, the client saved on cost and got a completely new look. We installed new Shaker-style cabinet doors with hidden hinges and glass details to blend into the newly-stained cabinets. Photo by Vern Uyetake

Completed kitchen. The project was designed around the hand hammered hood! Stained glass is from the same factory that made the glass in other original cabinets in the home. Ceiling is coved to match living room. Cabinets furred into the wall to provider deeper cabinets for chargers/large plates.
