This charming butler’s pantry is thoughtfully designed as a practical prep space, supporting many of the family’s everyday routines. Equipped with its own prep sink overlooking the lush garden, it’s the perfect spot for morning routines—where coffee is brewed and breakfast toasts and cereal are prepared with ease. Open shelving, accented with classic corbel detailing, provides the perfect place to store vases used for arranging fresh flowers from the garden. It also stores neatly organized pantry canisters and jars of homemade jam from the orchard. Ample shallow-depth cabinets keep canned and boxed goods within easy reach, while small appliances tuck neatly into cupboards beneath the countertop. Additional drawers are dedicated to storing the family’s assortment of water bottles, keeping everything organized and easy to find. A tongue-and-groove backsplash adds subtle texture while offering an easy-to-clean surface, blending historical beauty with practicality. A secondary refrigerator and freezer provides extra cold storage, ensuring the space is well-equipped.

The pantry flows seamlessly from the main kitchen. To create a cohesive yet distinct space, we enveloped the room in Sherwin-Williams Evergreen Fog, extending the color across cabinetry, trim and vertical V-groove paneling in a subtle color-drenched approach that has become a signature of contemporary British kitchens. We carried the dramatic honed Black Thunder granite from the kitchen into the pantry for continuity and instant luxury, then layered polished nickel plumbing fixtures with slim antique brass pulls to add warmth and subtle contrast. Flush-inset cabinetry, a fully paneled beverage refrigerator, and discreet tray storage keep lines crisp and uncluttered—hallmarks of refined, contemporary craftsmanship.

The defining move in this remodel was closing off an existing doorway that opened from a hallway directly into the kitchen. That single change unlocked one continuous run of cabinetry along the full perimeter wall, something the previous layout made impossible. The sink and dishwasher were relocated to a new island, which also houses an under-counter ice maker and provides seating at its capped ends. A pot filler was added above the range, and a dedicated appliance garage was framed behind shiplap panels on one end of the kitchen. The original ceiling beams were preserved and re-stained in Minwax Espresso to match the stain-grade island. Shiplap paneling runs the upper wall as a backsplash across the perimeter, stepping aside only at the range, where Tuscan Dream quartz rises to meet the custom vent hood shell. The island is topped in Ethereal Amber quartz with a 2.5" mitered edge. Perimeter counters and the appliance garage are leathered Vincent Black granite. The cabinetry throughout is painted inset, flat panel with profile, in Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter. Wave glass fronts the upper cabinets flanking the range. Champagne bronze runs consistently through the hardware, faucet, pot filler, and air switch. The flooring in the kitchen and breakfast room was replaced to match the existing wood plank porcelain tile in the adjoining spaces, keeping the transition seamless.
