A complete interior remodel of a top floor unit in a stately Pacific Heights building originally constructed in 1925. The remodel included the construction of a new elevated roof deck with a custom spiral staircase and “penthouse” connecting the unit to the outdoor space. The unit has two bedrooms, a den, two baths, a powder room, an updated living and dining area and a new open kitchen. The design highlights the dramatic views to the San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge to the north, the views west to the Pacific Ocean and the City to the south. Finishes include custom stained wood paneling and doors throughout, engineered mahogany flooring with matching mahogany spiral stair treads. The roof deck is finished with a lava stone and ipe deck and paneling, frameless glass guardrails, a gas fire pit, irrigated planters, an artificial turf dog park and a solar heated cedar hot tub.

This West Village is the combination of 2 apartments into a larger one, which takes advantage of the stunning double height spaces, extremely unusual in NYC. While keeping the pre-war flair the residence maintains a minimal and contemporary design.

A generic condominium lacking character was transformed into a warm, welcoming home through the use of custom designed millwork and furniture.
The double height space in the living area is accentuated with an oversized bookcase in French walnut, and a dramatic chandelier. The softness of a new rug in wool and silk provides contrast to the soaring space. A new opening was inserted in the interior of the upper floor to visually combine the two apartment levels. A credenza of solid French walnut provides a focal point adjacent to the dining room.

MWA made this grand entrance inviting with the use of a custom onyx topped foyer table. The custom David Iatesta chandelier used the volume of the double height ceiling to its advantage.

Our busy young homeowners were looking to move back to Indianapolis and considered building new, but they fell in love with the great bones of this Coppergate home. The home reflected different times and different lifestyles and had become poorly suited to contemporary living. We worked with Stacy Thompson of Compass Design for the design and finishing touches on this renovation. The makeover included improving the awkwardness of the front entrance into the dining room, lightening up the staircase with new spindles, treads and a brighter color scheme in the hall. New carpet and hardwoods throughout brought an enhanced consistency through the first floor. We were able to take two separate rooms and create one large sunroom with walls of windows and beautiful natural light to abound, with a custom designed fireplace. The downstairs powder received a much-needed makeover incorporating elegant transitional plumbing and lighting fixtures. In addition, we did a complete top-to-bottom makeover of the kitchen, including custom cabinetry, new appliances and plumbing and lighting fixtures. Soft gray tile and modern quartz countertops bring a clean, bright space for this family to enjoy. This delightful home, with its clean spaces and durable surfaces is a textbook example of how to take a solid but dull abode and turn it into a dream home for a young family.

In the living room, DGI opted for a minimal metal railing and wire cables to give the staircase a really modern and sleek appearance. Above the room, we opted to make a statement that draws the eyes up to celebrate the incredible ceiling height with a contemporary, suspended chandelier.

This entrance offers views on the right side to the Library. The balcony above, serves as a continuity of the library making it look as a double height library. In the balcony are desks and a door to a small closet that compensates for the flue space. The color red was chosen thanks to the client being receptive and to balance the white background.
