A small pied-e-terre received an out-sized makeover. We opened the tiny kitchen to give it the feel and workability of a much larger space. Both the bath and the kitchen are true to the very traditional and charming Beacon Hill aesthetic.

An extreme renovation makeover for my clients teenagers bathroom. We expanded the footprint and upgraded all facets of the existing space. We selected a more mature, sophisticated, spa like vibe that fit her likes and needs, while maintaining a modern, subdued palette that was calming + inviting and showcased the sculptural elements in the room. There really was nowhere but up to go in this space.

Unglazed porcelain – There is no glazing or any other coating applied to the tile. Their color is the same on the face of the tile as it is on the back resulting in very durable tiles that do not show the effects of heavy traffic. The most common unglazed tiles are the red quarry tiles or the granite looking porcelain ceramic tiles used in heavy commercial areas. Historic matches to the original tiles made from 1890 - 1930's. Subway Ceramic floor tiles are made of the highest quality unglazed porcelain and carefully arranged on a fiber mesh as one square foot sheets. A complimentary black hex is also in stock in both sizes and available by the sheet for creating borders and accent designs.

This an entire bathroom was designed completely around a faucet. This matte, architectural black faucet by Graff with its beautiful shiny chrome accents deserves it and was the complete inspiration for this space. Wait a minute – is that a square toilet? Yes, you’re seeing a square toilet. This is likely the sexiest bathroom you’ve ever seen. Surround yourself in Italian tile. Step out of the shower onto Icelandic Sheepskin. Allow the clean lines from the floating Porcelanosa vanity to bathe you in serenity. The image above that vanity? Oh yes. It’s a man’s torso. Why? Because what else does a woman want to wake up to? “Your space should feel sexy and romantic,” Marae says. We honestly don’t know how much more sexy a bathroom can get. Though the faucet itself was the most expensive thing in the room, MaRae admits that everything doesn’t have to be pricey. MaRae Simone designs are always a perfect mix of high-end items as well as non high-end. “I like what I like,” she says. “If it happens to be expensive, so be it. If it happens to be dirt-cheap, even better!”
