“We began our search for a home design by browsing multiple websites and just could not find a plan that bests suited our needs. We were referred to SM Monette Designs by our builder, Greg Hall of Ace Builders, and couldn't have been more pleased with the design work and collaboration that we received. Our lot had a very restrictive building envelope which made our project quite a bit more complicated than most jobs in the area. Susan was very flexible when it came to our requests and she gave us welcomed advice with regard to modifications that would provide the best possible product based on our requirements. The quoted costs were accurate and stayed right on budget. Susan was always very responsive to our email and phone calls so I would give her a top rating with regard to her customer service. The coordination between her, our builder, and the engineers were seamless. We would highly recommend SM Monette Designs for any home building project and should we ever have another we would definitely send the work her way.”

“B + O design studio coached us while designing our green forever home. They led us through the process of figuring out exactly what we wanted in our new home. They helped us to think through the space, flow, comfort, orientation, lot characteristics, native landscaping, etc. The end result was a home we love! “David's architectural and Ashley's design services are second to none. My wife and I started out with a big challenge for David (to turn the eyesore of the neighborhood into a place that we would be happy to call home), and he rose to the occasion and then some. The work product was second-to-none, and we keep coming back with new projects whenever we have a need. Ashley was a delight to work with as we gutted our living/dining/kitchen area, and she helped us create a space that our family loves to spend time in. The team at Lisle Architecture and Design is the best in town, and we can't recommend them highly enough!”

“Yes, We used Michael McLeod for a beautiful beach home that we are building. We liked the plan that was a standard plan and then added some modifications. He accommodated our changes and worked with us on all parts of the design. We liked the plan since it had some unusual design elements and was different than any other one we had seen. He was able to more quickly modify the plan versus other architect which would have cost the same or more to change another plan. We needed to move fast at one point and he made it in time. He was licensed for the beach which our builder needed and the town accepted. He seemed expensive but I think these changes would have cost just as much anywhere. The cost of the original plan was appropriate I thought. Overall, it is working out as expected and will be a dream home for us.”

“After putting together our wish list and considering designing our house ourselves, my wife and I did some looking and decided to purchase plans for the Island Cottage from Southern Cottages. This design had all the features we wanted. We are self-building not contracting the construction. Construction is not my profession. I was sure I'd have to do a lot of research to get it right. The quality and accuracy of the plans have sure made it easier than I expected. The design went through the permitting process without a hitch. (The building official even commented on how the plans facilitated his review.) As for customer service, I can't say enough about the positive experience I've had. I thought that once I had the plans in hand that would be the last interaction I'd have with the architect. Not so. Mike and his staff have kept in touch with me, and I with them. When a couple of questions came up that I thought would be best answered by them, I sent an email. Within a short time, I got the answers I needed. The main house is now framed in, and we're ready to start the wrap-around porch. Overall, I've found our experience with Southern Cottages to be exceptional and the plans were a great value for the price.”

His first question to us was, "how do you want your house to feel?" And from that moment on he led us through a series of discussions that he used to create a design for our home and land that was more than we could have ever dreamed or imagined. We wanted it to feel like an old, well-loved farmhouse, a place of welcome refuge - where there was space for everyone but not cavernous - and we were starting with an empty field as the canvas. His attention to detail was so impressive - every single aspect of his design was drawn with great purpose. Everyone who comes to our home always comments on how it "feels" and we attribute that to Chuck's incredibly skilled design. It was a joy and a privilege to have the opportunity to work with him.”

“We hired Mr. Herring to design a 5,000+ square foot home on the ICW. That project took place in 2000-2001. Mr. Herring had a unique capacity to "read our minds" as we moved along during the design stage such that the home became everything we wished for in our dreams. He was a fantastic on-the- spot architectural supervisor, holding the crew to the mission while gaining their respect along the way. The final product was fantastic.
