Louis even arranged for us to visit a shop in France that specializes in reproduction doors and cabinets, so we saw firsthand how incredibly accurate, detailed, and well made their products are. Working with Louis and Edwin is pleasant. They're always professional and thorough, and go the extra mile to make the project perfect. I don't know of any other place in the Bay Area that can do what Portalais does for a house project.”

“Extremely professional and highly-skilled craftsman. Took a dream that I had for a custom screen door and made it into perfect reality. The door was for a beautiful wood entry designed by the original carpenter/builder of the home. Heavy wood front door with an archway, surrounded by stained glass. Brad created a custom screen door in a beautiful wood color to complement the existing construction, with shimmery gold screen. Words don't quite do it justice. A difficult job to make the screen door look as nice and substantial as the existing entry and not detract in any way. Looks fabulous. In summer months the sun sets through this entry way, and now I have the evening sun streaming in through my stained glass and gold screen door with an arch. Very beautiful. He also did two back screen doors for my rear entries. Blended in seamlessly to previous construction. Highly recommend.”

“My wife and I hired Matthias Troitzsch of Id8Bau, for the purchase and installation of a European front door/side window unit. Matthias took responsibility from start to finish, in counseling us and determining which door to order, what features we might want, what colors, and how to get it to our home and how to get it installed. It is a Pirnar door, manufactured in Slovenia; and, while it is incredibly beautiful, high class and high tech, it is not something which local contractors know how to install. So, what could have been a very difficult task was made much easier by Matthias. He was extremely available, helpful and can-do, from start to finish, both in the decision and ordering of the unit and in its installation. His judgment was invaluable at every step, and we are delighted with the result. My wife and I recommend him very highly and without reservation.”
