“Completely renovated our log cabin. They came in and demo'd it. Removing the drop down ceiling, making the whole log cabin 1 big gathering room (the lodge) with cathedral ceiling. They moved the stairs leading to unfinished basement (now finished), replaced all the windows in the log cabin, new ash flooring, new kitchen cupboards,added kitchen island, and countertops, notched out logs to fit new appliances. Also finished basement with new bedroom, laundry room, family room, bathroom and my favorite, "a craft room" from what used to be a "cluttered hall". Also added slider walk out door to patio area and outside shower. I have pictures from beginning to now, but don't have them on my work computer, can supply from my "patti.lou.who@hotmail.com" account upon request.”

“Ours is primarily a DIY project – a timber-framed, strawbale-wrapped house with external stud walls containing dense-packed cellulose insulation and (eventually) clapboard siding. We greatly benefited from consulting with New Frameworks Natural Design Build starting early in our design/planning process. Co-owner Jacob Deva Racussin, is very knowledgeable, thorough, friendly and outstanding teacher, who met with us several times and provided very useful feedback and suggestions, as well as instructions and sources for specialized construction supplies. He visited our project site several times, and taught us (and friends) how to shape and build with the bales. We also hired a New Frameworks crew, including co-owner Ace McArleton, to apply the base coat of plaster on the interior straw-bale walls. They were wonderful - very hardworking, plus enjoyable to work with! We very much appreciate everyone’s flexibility in working with us through our long, complicated and somewhat chaotic process. We think the world of all the New Frameworks Natural Design Build people and highly recommend them!”

“We have employed CDN for 2 renovations on our VT ski condo. The first was after we purchased and involved a large scale reno. The second was smaller but required Carm to take over a job that was initially started by another contractor (CDN was not available initially). This contractor was a nightmare. For both jobs, Carm was the ultimate professional. He helped in planning and design, asking the right questions and providing great insight. His work was meticulous and detailed, with great communication throughout each project. He even helped me move the furniture! He was on time and was respectful of our needs and wishes. He finished both jobs clean and ready for use. Our satisfaction was off the charts!”

“It was a pleasure working with Warren Uzzle who completed a front porch project on my home in Warren, VT. When I initially spoke with Warren about my project, he told me that he would be down that afternoon - and he arrived early. I provided Warren with an overview of the issues (that he also saw). He asked a number of questions, and then proceeded to describe possible options to rectify the problems. Warren brought along a photo album of projects he had worked on over the years from building entire homes to smaller home projects. I decided to hire Warren and the project was completed on time and within budget. Warren kept me informed throughout the project and discussed any unforeseen issues with me along with possible solutions. Warren has an eye for perfection. He works to achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction, keeps his word, and is a very trustworthy and honest man. “Outstanding design and excellent quality workmanship. We have hired HJL twice, once in 2008 for a major renovation, and again in 2015 for a smaller project consisting of a balcony, a trellis, and some deck railings. Norm has a gift for seeing the potential of a space and coming up with creative approaches that we never would have come up with on our own. We have found him to be a clear communicator and great to work with. Our 1980s era house has been transformed into a beautiful and unconventional contemporary home that is warm and efficient but gives a feeling of being connected to the natural surroundings from anywhere indoors. We have recommended him to others and wouldn't hesitate to work with him again.”

“We decided we wanted to tear down our seasonal cottage and rebuild it into something with a foundation, some style and function. We had to stay on the same footprint since we were near the lake. We had kind of a vague plan and selected the Bonneville Brothers because they had done a good job on some remodeling at the cottage next door. They took my general idea and turned it into something great. They had ideas that built on my own and they knew what would work and what wouldn't. They always did what they said they were going to do and got it done on time. I checked in with them every few weeks or so and was never disappointed. Everyone raves about the quality of the work they did here!”
