Featured Reviews for Sliding Door Installers in Portland Maine

O's Maine
Sliding Door Installers in Portland Maine
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsAugust 14, 2026
“We had a great experience working with O's Maine on our estimate. Cody was easy to reach and quick to respond whenever we had questions, and the estimate itself was thorough and professional. It was clearly laid out, easy to understand, and it was obvious he'd taken real time to walk the property rather than giving us a generic quote. In the end, we've decided not to move forward with a renovation. As we've gotten further into the process, we've realized the issues with the basement and the rest of the structure are extensive enough that we're going to tear the place down. That decision has nothing to do with the quality of the estimate or the service we received, which was excellent. We'd happily work with O's Maine again on a future project.”
Greater Portland Renovations

Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsJune 30, 2024
“Tom and his crew did an outstanding job renovating the entire exterior of our Gorham home including siding and trim, rebuilding exterior stairs, replacing doors and windows, roofing and gutters, and building an absolutely gorgeous deck! Tom was prompt and thorough with the initial estimate, asking thoughtful questions to understand our goals and suggesting creative solutions. His timeline estimate was spot-on and he and his crew were professional, respectful, and hardworking. And as for the work itself, Tom's detail-oriented approach yielded FLAWLESS results - our house looks incredible and we know the underlying work is rock-solid. We highly recommend Greater Portland Renovations and look forward to working with them on future projects!”

“Writing to give my highest recommendation for BCB. We just took a Portland cape and did the upstairs double dormers, new bathroom, all new heating and windows, and first floor addition off the back of the house all with a family of four living inside the entire time! Josh and his crew were professional, hard working, responsive, caring and flexible. You couldn’t ask for a better experience! The project was a life changer for us thanks to their guidance and execution.”

General Contractor FAQs
The duration of a sliding door installation project varies based on factors like the complexity of the installation and the type of door. Typically, a straightforward installation can take about a day. However, if structural changes are required or if custom doors need to be ordered and manufactured, the project could extend to several weeks. A reliable installer will provide a detailed timeline after assessing your specific situation.
Homeowners have a wide array of materials to choose from, including wood, aluminum, vinyl, and fiberglass, each with its own advantages regarding durability, maintenance, and aesthetics. Current design trends lean towards maximizing natural light and enhancing indoor-outdoor flow, with large glass panels and minimal frames being popular choices. Consult with your installer to understand which materials and designs align with your needs and local climate conditions.
Before the installation day, clear the area near the door of furniture and decorations to create a workspace for the installers. Consider covering nearby furnishings to protect against dust. Also, ensure pets and children are kept away from the work area for safety. Communicating any specific instructions or concerns with your installer beforehand can also streamline the process.
Common challenges include unexpected structural issues or discovering that the opening isnʼt level, which can affect the doorʼs operation. Professional installers can address these issues by adjusting the frame or modifying the opening. Communication is key, so ensure your installer keeps you informed and consults with you on how best to address any unforeseen challenges.
Warranties vary by installer and manufacturer but generally cover the door and hardware against defects for a specific period, often ranging from 1 to 10 years. Some installers also offer warranties on their workmanship. Clarify the warranty terms before starting the project, including what is covered and the process for addressing any issues.
Regular maintenance can significantly extend the life of your sliding door. This includes cleaning the tracks, lubricating moving parts with a silicone-based lubricant, and checking the weather stripping and locks for wear. Perform visual inspections regularly and address any issues promptly. Consult your installer for specific maintenance advice for your doorʼs material and design.
