“We have been living in our Northcape built house for over 2 years now,and couldn't be happier. The process of designing and building the house was delightful, the finished product our dream come true. Designer/decorator Pat Westgate was so easy to work with, accompanying me to granite, tile, appliance and plumbing showrooms, all of which were totally overwhelming. She gently guided me to the best choices, gave her opinions when asked, whittled choices down when there were too many, etc. She was also a great resource when choosing lighting, always difficult for us since my husband and I have different tastes in that regard. She and Project Manager Jim Goin suggested some design changes that we are very happy with. Friends comment on how "solid" the house is--so well insulated from outside noise. It's an exceptionally well built house, with great attention to detail.”

“I met Chris when I was hired to build a custom shower he and his wife had designed. Walking into the near complete renovation project is was obvious Chris had great attention to detail. The tile I installed highlighted other colors in the master suite.... All the trims were fluent throughout the house, color schemes all seemed to work well together. All the hardware used in the kitchen, bathrooms, foyer to even the shower and lighting fixtures complimented each other nicely I thought. “Major renovations at our second home in Brandon, VT. Required complete redesign and reconstruction of the space on the first floor with partial redesign of the second floor with new bathroom added. It was a pleasure to work with Cliff and his crew of Three Oaks Construction and the several sub-contractors that he brought in for various specialized tasks that were part of this major renovation project. Every individual, whether directly on Cliff’s team or part of a sub-contractor’s team, was someone who took pride in their workmanship in every detail that was part of this project and it was obvious to us as we progressed. Even though the renovation was designed with blue-prints supplied by the designer, we got numerous suggestions for alternate approaches from Cliff and his team as the project progressed. Several of these ideas made the alteration have better utility or looks or both. Being in a situation where we had time since we did not have a hard deadline when we were planning on moving into the space, we were able to consider and assess several of the alternatives and act upon the ones we saw most suitable for us. Overall, it was a great experience working with a crew of people who were always pleasant to work with and ready to listen to suggestions and/or questions that arose as the renovations progressed. I have no hesitation in highly recommending Cliff and his entire crew for any construction or carpentry work.”

“Smith & Vansant is a phenomenal architectural firm. In fact, working with them renovated not only my house, but my life! After 15 years or so of living with the property more or less as I found it, my tiny 1850 Cape needed long-overdue renovations -- including improvements to all major systems, solutions to a big water problem in the basement, a new kitchen, a new roof, adding working and living space, and a home office, along with extensive site work and landscaping. From a design perspective, they are simply brilliant. They have a fantastic aesthetic sense; know how to integrate old and new in a way that is pure genius; and are skilled problem-solvers. They worked closely with the contractor, Lud Leskovar, to assure that I was comfortable and inconvenienced a little as humanly possible while the work was being done all around me. Smith & Vansant, Lud Leskovar and I worked closely as a team. The kept me informed as to costs all along the way and helped me make decisions that took into account my both budget and my dreams. They were endlessly patient and always kind. Everyone in this close-knit firm is a pleasure to work with, operates with the highest integrity, and knows what they are doing.
