“We must, by way of relief and gratitude, begin this review of Thoroughbred Custom Homes with the highest regard and highest recommendation! I first would like to start by commending TCH on their utmost honesty, high integrity, and professionalism through and through. After critically and extensively researching several other “custom home builders” in the DFW area, i can confidently say that none of them hold a candle next to Thoroughbred. Thoroughbred created a masterpiece of a home that far exceeded our already very high expectations. The quality and scale of our home is stellar- they do not take shortcuts. The materials thoroughbred used to construct the shell of our home, as their standard, typically would cost tens of thousands to upgrade to through other home builders. They truly are not bluffing when they say high quality is their standard, this company sets the bar extraordinarily high. Harris and Evan are exceptional construction managers. They both went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, to ensure to job site was clean each and every day, and most importantly that the jobs were being done right. They kept us informed at all times and made sure jobs were getting done on schedule day in and day out. They were very transparent about costs, and they made the process so easy with the BuilderTREND app. Unlike our experience with other large scale home builders, we were never once blind sided or price gouged when it came to choosing interior finishes. In fact, because of our experiences with other home builders in the area, i can also confidently say that thoroughbred has the most generous allowances when selecting finishes. As someone who is passionate about design- this is where it hit a home run for me. Gina, who leads the design aspect of construction was an absolute pleasure to work with! Gina has excellent taste, class, and vision. She helped guide me through to make the right choices, in addition to steering me away from what could be a bad choice by considering the dynamics of our life…(kids, dogs, etc.) She truly pulled everything together seamlessly without me ever feeling overwhelmed, and i never want to design another house without her!! All of this leads me to say that although Thoroughbred Custom Homes is a newer builder to the North Dallas area- they are exactly what this area has been missing. You can find a home builder just about anywhere in Dallas- but you won’t find a top of the line, best of the best builder like Thoroughbred.”

“Tom and Scott built this great house for us about 8 years ago. They were involved from design and of course through construction. With over 7000 sq ft, we had lots of questions and challenges for first time we had a house built. They were terrific and we felt that we got a good value and great advice throughout, plus quality construction. Important too was that they stood by their work and do so even today. I know that if I had a problem with this house that was even remotely related to construction that one quick phone call would bring them back and they would take care of it. We did have a problem several years after construction and they fixed it at no cost to us. We have also had some remodeling done by them and they are great. I would be happy to recommend them to anyone. I would attach a picture to this, but do not see a way to do that.”

“This is a photo of my tiny house. I custom designed it with Donnie. He was great in making me bring my design ideas to life. He was able to incorporate and custom build my tiny home to my specifications. We completed it and it was fully NOAH inspected every step of the building process and certified upon completion. It is fully insurable through foremost. It did require a 550 size truck to move it d/t height and design style. Every aspect was left up to me to make it my own. I chose every aspect of design style. I love my tiny home!”

“We bought our house (Burkett) from Mike in 2008 and although we knew at the time that the home was well constructed we have truly appreciated that quality ever since. There are so many details that are present in the home from architectural to hardware choices that truly make it unique and special. If my wife and I were to build another home Mike would be the first person we would call. This year we needed to make some changes to the use of our home which required us to build out the attic space. It looked very complicated and I wasn't quite sure how to make it happen. I called Mike who came by with an Architect and looked at the space. After several meetings and an estimate we started the project and everything went exactly as planned. “24 years ago, I promised my wife that if we were able; someday we'd build the home our dreams. When that time came, we were so blessed to find Aaron Wallrath to work with. Our original builder quit before we even got started and we were at a loss as how to proceed. He was unable to embrace a home of this size; 5000sf. Once we met with Aaron; all was better. “After looking at countless homes and home builders, we decided to build with Dave R Williams in 2015. The process of designing and building a custom home is an involved process. but the people at DRW made the process as smooth and stress-free as possible. And after going through the process with DRW I am certain that the build quality is second to none, and the price is very fair and competitive. After doing exhaustive research, and interviewing too many builders to remember, I came to the conclusion that building a custom home is less expensive than trying to get a production builder to build exactly what you want (because production builders will nickel and dime you to death), and in the end production builders don't want to build a custom home, they want to build a fast home. Dave R Williams' homes are built with pretty much everything you could want already included in the standard home. But any time I wanted something different/special/custom I was met with nothing but positive attitude and the answer was always "yes, we can do that". I'm VERY particular, and I was shocked that I never heard anything but "yes" from the DRW staff. Whatever I wanted was no problem. I can't say enough positive things about the people at Dave R Williams Homes. Dave is an absolute gentleman, and is a genuinely caring and interested party in your home building process. Mark Sena is the "salesperson" for DRW, although he never tried to "sell" us anything, he was more of a friendly "facilitator" who answered questions and arranged out meeting with Rex the designer who helped us design our home based on my drawings and ideas. Gary Castleberry is the VP of operations and is very involved in every aspect of the process. Mike Kleber and Eldon Carter are the construction managers and are in your house every day making sure things are going smoothly. Mike was my construction manager, and he was not only an attentive and professional manager of the process but also a genuinely great guy to work with, and he has an eye for detail in making sure that everything goes according to plan. Cheryl Grant is the designer with the patience of a saint, putting up with my wife and I as we tried to agree on endless decisions and changes. Cheryl helped us navigate the entire design and selection of everything from cabinet design and hardware to flooring, paint and light fixtures. Having a professional designer available to us was invaluable. I cannot stress enough the importance of the people involved in the process of building a custom home. The staff at DRW, including everyone I mention and also everyone in the office staff, wee an absolute pleasure to work with and made the entire process so easy and fun that looking back I can't believe how much we got done with such little stress on the part of my wife and I. I have many friends who have built houses, and they all have versions of some nightmare story to tell. I can't tell you how pleased I am that throughout the entire process that I have nothing but praise for the entire DRW staff. As I said, I'm very particular and honestly I'm the type of customer that I would dread dealing with (particular, opinionated and like to be in control). Everyone at DRW was pleasant and responsive, and in the end my home is everything I wanted and then some. If I ever build another custom home (and I really don't knw why I would with the home we have now) I would definitely build with Dave R Williams again. Bu don't take my word for it, just visit a neighborhood where Dave R Williams has built all or most of the houses (there are several in Prosper) and ask any homeowner you see out in their yard. We did, and all we heard was positive things. And I'm glad we chose Dave R Williams to build our home.”
