“We must, by way of relief and gratitude, begin this review of Thoroughbred Custom Homes with the highest regard and highest recommendation! I first would like to start by commending TCH on their utmost honesty, high integrity, and professionalism through and through. After critically and extensively researching several other “custom home builders” in the DFW area, i can confidently say that none of them hold a candle next to Thoroughbred. Thoroughbred created a masterpiece of a home that far exceeded our already very high expectations. The quality and scale of our home is stellar- they do not take shortcuts. The materials thoroughbred used to construct the shell of our home, as their standard, typically would cost tens of thousands to upgrade to through other home builders. They truly are not bluffing when they say high quality is their standard, this company sets the bar extraordinarily high. Harris and Evan are exceptional construction managers. They both went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, to ensure to job site was clean each and every day, and most importantly that the jobs were being done right. They kept us informed at all times and made sure jobs were getting done on schedule day in and day out. They were very transparent about costs, and they made the process so easy with the BuilderTREND app. Unlike our experience with other large scale home builders, we were never once blind sided or price gouged when it came to choosing interior finishes. In fact, because of our experiences with other home builders in the area, i can also confidently say that thoroughbred has the most generous allowances when selecting finishes. As someone who is passionate about design- this is where it hit a home run for me. Gina, who leads the design aspect of construction was an absolute pleasure to work with! Gina has excellent taste, class, and vision. She helped guide me through to make the right choices, in addition to steering me away from what could be a bad choice by considering the dynamics of our life…(kids, dogs, etc.) She truly pulled everything together seamlessly without me ever feeling overwhelmed, and i never want to design another house without her!! All of this leads me to say that although Thoroughbred Custom Homes is a newer builder to the North Dallas area- they are exactly what this area has been missing. You can find a home builder just about anywhere in Dallas- but you won’t find a top of the line, best of the best builder like Thoroughbred.”

“Walker Properties just completed a fantastic remodel of our Jack/Jill restroom. From the initial meeting, Josh Walker was very helpful in guiding me to what would be most beneficial to the project and had several suggestions that saved us a lot of money and time. Josh was very straightforward with his estimate and broke things down in case we decided to do the project in stages. His crew was very meticulous, respectful of our time and home, and very accommodating when I decided to add something in mid-remodel(extra painting). The job was completed in less than two weeks and it is beautiful and everything I asked for and more. I HIGHLY recommend Walker Properties and will definitely use them again in the future.”

“Whatever you need, Robert is ON IT. On time, on budget, beautiful work, and he WRANGLES WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY so you don't have to. We hired Kodiak to stain our pool deck (at the recommendation of the local Sherwin Williams). Robert took one look at our roof and said, "You've got a lot of hail damage, see?" then showed us pics of the dings and dents we'd failed to notice. He met with the insurance adjuster a few days later and within a week we had a brand new roof. I then hired him to repair and seal our driveway. He powerwashed it THREE TIMES before putting the sealer on. A contractor with a conscience!”

“Contractors 4U worked very quickly on a proposal for a remodel. Received a very accurate quote on the scope of work and we were able to move forward. From the moment we moved in, he was ready to help and had awesome ideas on how to take our old, grungy, falling apart home and turn it into something we never dreamed it could be. He gives great attention to detail and has excellent taste as well. “Tom and Scott built this great house for us about 8 years ago. They were involved from design and of course through construction. With over 7000 sq ft, we had lots of questions and challenges for first time we had a house built. They were terrific and we felt that we got a good value and great advice throughout, plus quality construction. Important too was that they stood by their work and do so even today. I know that if I had a problem with this house that was even remotely related to construction that one quick phone call would bring them back and they would take care of it. We did have a problem several years after construction and they fixed it at no cost to us. We have also had some remodeling done by them and they are great. I would be happy to recommend them to anyone. I would attach a picture to this, but do not see a way to do that.”

“Chris completely remodeled our master bathroom; It involved removing the vanity tops and sinks, modifying the counters to increase storage, removing the old small stand - alone shower and turning it into a closet, tearing out the whirlpool tub and replacing it with an extraordinary large walk-in shower with frameless glass door and wall. He also removed an octagonal shaped window and replaced that with a 4" x 4" glass block window that brings daylight into the shower. The floor was replaced with ceramic tile that matches the shower, a new vanity top was installed with new sinks and hardware and the whole place re painted. It's been over 2 years now and it still looks like new and we enjoy it every day. It was well worth the time it took to get the job done. We chose the best quality materials money allowed and it turned out to our satisfaction. M & W Simard”

I wouldn’t call any one else. She is very professional and creative. She is always very attentive to needs and understands our vision. “We carefully interviewed several builders before we selected Kevin Jackson and his team at Train Custom Homes. Building your dream home on a raw, unimproved piece of land without water or utilities is at best a daunting task, and we’re thankful and blessed that we picked a partner like Train. As discriminating clients, we appreciated Kevin’s integrity and high level of building expertise. He is very thoughtful, extremely honest and very passionate about what he does. First and foremost, Train will build a quality home with “great bones”. They utilize superior and innovative building materials from the foundation to energy efficient insulation and HVAC systems. We participated in every stage of our build, and know that we have a structurally superior house. With Train, your home is engineered to stand for a lifetime. Kevin helped us translate a vision, some sketches and a portfolio of curated photos to a set of architectural plans, and then executed those plans with incredible workmanship and attention to detail. That level of service remained consistent throughout our entire build and even after we moved in, with Train making whatever small adjustments were required. From a design perspective, Train is a true “custom” homebuilder. Kevin has the creative ability to fuse traditional, rustic Texas ranch or farmhouse structures with modern, contemporary and industrial interior finishes. Some builders have one style aesthetic but that’s not the case with Train. With our home, Kevin embraced the challenge of working with unique finishes like recycled glass and concrete countertops (Vetrazzo) and helping us source rare porcelain plank floors that look like reclaimed barn wood. From a customer service standpoint, they’re exceptional. Your calls and e-mails will be returned. They also have a great team of sub-contractors and artisans, which have been with them for years. It is clear there is a level of personal pride that goes into each client project. They back that pride with a solid warranty program and in our case, we’re pleased that our project came in within budget. When your friends and family tell you your home should be in Architectural Digest---that’s just a bonus. It’s a big responsibility to build someone’s home. A home is the core of a family, it’s your sanctuary and it’s a serious financial investment, one that can cannot be entrusted to just any builder.
