“I have been working with Jennifer from The Old Painted Cottage since 2011. I had been a faithful blog reader (http://theoldpaintedcottage.com/) and admirer of her style for a long time before getting the courage to contact her to see if she would agree to a design consultation to help me revamp my living room. My husband and I had recently moved into a 1960's ranch - that still looked like it was from the 1960s! I was so frustrated with trying to "design" my house on a budget and getting nowhere – I desperately wanted and needed help. I kind of knew what I wanted to do and the styles I admired, but I had no idea whatsoever how to create it on a realistic budget in my own home. I hired Jennifer to teach me how to beautify my living room. And oh boy - I cannot say enough about how absolutely wonderful it was (and has been since then) to work with Jennifer! After sending her the dimensions of my living area and images of living rooms I loved (many of them here on Houzz), we scheduled and had a phone consultation and OH.MY.GOSH! Jennifer's energy, excitement, ability to translate what I wanted to the redesign of my space - and all within my budget - was incredible! One of the most amazing things about Jennifer is that she patiently taught me many interior design secrets that I never knew but have since been able to apply to my whole home (e.g., hanging drapes higher than the top of the window, displaying décor items in threes, adding pops of complementary color, etc.) Needless to say, it is 2014 and Jennifer has let me hire her to design almost every room in my house! Since 2011, I’ve had two babies and she helped me design both nurseries. Jennifer also helped me revamp my master bedroom, TV room, and the sunroom! Currently, we are doing a whole house consult on a little lake cabin my husband and I recently purchased. Overall, Jennifer is a consummate professional, her fees are ridiculously reasonable, and she is able to “get into a space” and transform it simply by looking at before photos. Jennifer is a gem! I could go on and on about Jennifer…(and I hope to meet her in person one day soon!)”

“We used Kate initially to help us pick paint colors for our newly remodeled kitchen. She came up with a fabulous red, that we all just love, and that truly shows off the new cherry cabinets, granite and showcases the woods behind our home. Really makes everything pop! Since then, Kate has helped us pick additional paint colors for our home, even talking me in to painting the foyer a stunning blue/grey with yellow walls. Most recently, Kate totally transformed our living room from a rarely used space to a much cozier, livable space. In short we love the work Kate has done or us! Highly recommend her!”

The original designer whom we had engaged had family illness issues that made continuing with her not possible. Peggy was a godsend. “We hired Hellen Hsieh, the owner of Design Loft Company, to design our 725 sq ft great room addition. We are so incredibly thrilled with the completed project, it is exactly what we had envisioned. Our existing house was a 1200 sq ft 3 bedroom, 2 bath home. The kitchen and living area was very modest. With two teenagers at home, we needed to expand and wanted more room to entertain. When we started the project we were uncertain if we should knock down walls and remodel the current floor plan and add a small addition or keep the footprint of the existing house exactly the same and add on one large great room. We decided to do the later, however, to get to this point, we went through several different renderings. Hellen provided us with many great options and helped us decide what would be the most economical and feasible plan. She was flexible, patient and was great about pointing out the pros and cons of each option. Her interactions with our architect , contractor and cabinet supplier went very smoothly which helped us to meet specific deadlines. Hellen was maticulous when it came to the kitchen cabinets and made sure everything was ordered properly and our custom stain came out exactly how we wanted. As a designer, she is very creative and knowledgeable. She understood the style and feel we were after. More importantly she was very conscious and respectful of our monetary constraints which helped us complete our entire project within budget. What impressed us most was her understanding of the build process: from the contractors needs, the city requirements, realistic costs and time estimates, appliance installation prerequisites and inspection requirements. We couldn't be more pleased with Design Loft and Hellen's professionalism.”

“Missy is a color genius--I recently purchased a highly contemporary town house in North Montrose which, as expected, was very stark, edgy and white. Although the majority of my rooms remain this way (by design), I did need to add some interest in certain rooms using color whilst co-ordinating with the remainder of my contemporary furniture. Missy assisted me with color advice and selection in four separate areas: my bedroom, dining room, powder room, and office. In all cases, she spent a significant amount of time with me to understand my personality, and then assisted me with color selection, including gently guiding me (effectively by "giving me permission") to go with my personality and select a more "out there" color than I originally was thinking about. For my personality, she realized that I would feel most comfortable with a funky chocolate brown (one wall in dining area), funky orange (powder room), citriline (office), and a very muted gray/brown (master bedroom and bathroom). I am extremely pleased that she gently guided me in this direction, and I couldn't recommend her more highly. Thank you Missy!”

“Fabulous Experience! Sandy helped us with two projects: 1) stage our "old" home in preparation for sale and 2) decorate our "new" home. Sandy understands how to effectively stage a home for sale. She primarily used furniture and accessories we already owned to improve the flow and appearance of our previous home - and our home sold quickly! Her fee for this service was reasonable and was definitely money very well spent. I would recommend that home sellers talk to Sandy before putting their home on the market. The small investment in her professional services can payoff in selling your home more quickly and maximizing the selling price of your home. First impressions are SO important! Sandy also helped with the interior decorating in our new home. She spent time developing an understanding of our decorating preferences and the "feel" we wanted in our home. Sandy helped us chose beautiful paint colors (she helped me think outside the "beige box" ) and also shopped for some new accessories and furniture for our home. She then assisted with furniture placement and accessory placement and made it all come together beautifully! Sandy is very warm and non-intimidating. This was my first experience with a decorator, and I wanted to make sure our home reflected our personal taste and style. Sandy helped us accomplish this within our budget. We will definitely call Sandy again as we make some changes to our home!”
