“We wanted to remodel the basement and our contractors talked to us about taking out the bedrooms and making one big theatre room. We had heard about Kathleen Townsend Interior Design and decided to give her a call and see what a interior designer would bring to the project. It was the best decision we ever made. She sat down with us and listened to us on what we wanted to do with the room. She brought fresh and new ideas to the project. After Kathleen listened to what we wanted from the room she helped us to decide to make it into a family room. She brought samples and books with her ideas and helped us think outside the box. She worked with us, the contractors and followed up on every stage of the process. The transformation of the room was breath taking. Even the contractors could not believe how incredible the room turned out. The room is truly amazing and we couldn't be more pleased. She is a gem! April 2012 We had used Kathleen Townsend Interior Design for our project in the basement and were so pleased we wanted to use her again for our office project. We wanted to take our formal dining room and make it into an office. We needed the office functional but with a warm and comfortable atmosphere. She did most the work, we just had to pick out what we wanted from her samples and books. She checked with everyone involved on the project to make sure they were on schedule. Again the transformation was astonishing. It is more than we had hoped for. Everyone that has come to visit cannot stop talking about how stunning the room is. July 2015 We had done a project in the basement in 2011 with Kathleen Townsend Interior Design and it was a total transformation that we decided to move forward with the rest of the basement. After talking with Kathleen about what we wanted to do with the room she helped us think outside the box. To envision what we wanted the room for and imagine how we could achieve it. We took an ordinary basement room and turned it into a stunning exercise room. We ended up moving the bathroom and enlarging the room. It was able to give us plenty of room for our equipment, sauna, and put a personal touch to the room. The bathroom is not only functional but exquisite. Every contractor that helped with the project is astonished at the results. We are astounded with the rooms and would highly recommend Kathleen Townsend Interior Design. She is marvelous and the end results are breathtaking.”

“My husband and I bought a new home in December 2012, and are tackling it one room at a time with Stephanie's help. We actually started talking to her before we moved in about our 2 anticipated large projects in the kitchen and master bath. The first room we started; however, was the living room (a huge cathedral ceiling in the center of everything....she picked the paint for us. Admittedly, we did not like it at first, we thought it was too much color (we had picked a warm white on our own). After a month, we realized it was absolutely the right choice; and went with our vision of how we wanted to live and entertain (our choice would have made the home feel like a cold museum). Thats when we started running everything past her........Is our carpet choice the right one? Is our wood color (refinished floors) the right one? She was the tie breaker in many of our design dilemmas during this time. Then, I described the feeling we wanted when walking into our bedroom and asked Stephanie to find bedding. She chose bedding that was an inviting cocoon, serene, beautiful and easily dressed up. She helped with the furniture choices as well as decor choices and finally had window panels made for us that made a dramatic difference in the room. It was clear that she really understood us and what we wanted in our home. Then we retained Stephanie to put together our kitchen remodel design. This was a huge undertaking, as we had a small kitchen that opened to a dining/sitting room combination. It all needed to feel unified in design while allowing for separate space use; and we needed a LOT more storage space. During the first few weeks of design, our vision evolved from one that was simple to more details (and our budget had to expand with it). Steph rolled with us, moving from very nice wood cabinets with custom trim to a completely custom kitchen. She drew up the final design and specified the materials for our custom woodworking company, et al to begin their work and for us to do our product sourcing. Stephanie picked items we would never have chosen (or even known about); and once it was put together, our kitchen looked even more beautiful than the inspiration kitchen photos I had torn out of House Beautiful. We encountered unforeseen issues during construction; and Stephanie was able to work with the woodworkers to work through those issues. She also had the window treatments and window cushions made for this area; again unifying the space while catering to functionality. Finally, Stephanie did a punch list for us...again, finding items that we would not have found on our own. :) Stephanie also helped with my holiday decorating this year. My budget was limited, and she was still able to help me purchase some great items ... you know those things that only a designer has access to! We've just retained Stephanie again. This time she will help us with our master bath and laundry. The half bath is up next; and there are several more rooms to come! One of our favorite things about Stephanie (particularly for our large projects), is that she has no problem with me sourcing items separately. This has not been true with my prior designers as part of their income is markup on those items. Finally, I feel like Stephanie always has me in the back of her mind, because when I tell her I have a budget for the next room, she seems to already have items and ideas in mind. I LOVE THAT!...and it keeps us rolling on to the next room together.”
