Marcye is a good listener — she quickly understood what we were looking for and adapted her proposals to suit our tastes and sensibilities, while also introducing us to a lot of creative, new ideas. She even expertly negotiated differences between me and my husband, searching for products and regenerating designs until she could please us both. Her design concepts for the rooms in our home were natural, practical, designs-to-live-in. She has a wonderful sense for color and texture — I particularly enjoyed working with her to choose fabrics for pillow sets for our den and living room. The results were quite different for the two rooms, but each set is like a little artwork in itself, with a few fun, specially constructed patchworks that she put together thinking about both design and efficient use of the fabric. She also has great contacts for painters, wallpaperers, rug dealers, seamstresses, cabinet makers, etc., and was able to subcontract directly or guide us to businesses that were honest and reliable and who provided excellent quality products and services. When we realized we had a very tight spot for a bathroom sink, she custom designed a cabinet herself to maximize the use of the space and even made the trip to the marble company warehouse to personally choose the cut of stone to use for the top. I love Marcye and I’d hire her again in a heartbeat.”

For example, she made sure the counters in our master bath were the correct height, so I did not have to bend down while using the sink and that the jets that came out of the shower hit my back correctly. She is more than able to manage unexpected outcomes. When our rain shower unit was not available as the bath store promised, Kacey went above and beyond to find the specific unit I desired. “Ann and David Sargent are experienced, highly sophisticated and elegant designers. I first met Ann 20 years ago, when she helped me decorate and renovate a new home in The Upper Valley of NH. Then she expertly helped me reuse the furniture, draperies and oriental rugs in subsequent moves to PA, CT and now back to the Upper Valley--adding pieces only sparingly and refashioning the draperies to fit new window configurations. In addition, both Ann and David helped us redesign a NY apartment which we bought 10 years ago. David-- a specialist In efficient, imaginative use of space--designed a floor plan beyond our wildest dreams and oversaw the building contractor. Everyone who comes to the apartment asks for his name. Ann did her splendid decorating, but also exercised her significant expertise not just in the cosmetics of everything but in understanding structural and/or mechanical features important to the ultimate results.
