“We had a wonderful experience working with Rasmussen/Su on a kitchen renovation. Our home was built in 1879, and it had a cramped and dark kitchen. Kevin & Vivian really listened to what mattered to us (having a space that works for an active family and opens the kitchen up to the rest of the first floor) and they were able to incorporate those things into the design. They have experience with historic homes and local regulations and took care of the arduous permit process. They were there during construction when we ran into the unexpected things you discover in an old house. They also helped with the design details and decisions you have to make during a project. We now have an amazing space where everyone gathers to cook, do homework, and just be together.”

It is breathtaking, and brings architectural distinctiveness as well as light into our row home. The project also gave us several more feet of precious space thanks to the removal of a chimney we did not realize was behind a wall. Whelan came into our space and saw all kinds of fresh possibilities, but also succeeded at learning and honoring our aesthetic.
