It is steel, engineered to produce beautiful brown-orange rust on its surface shortly after it is exposed to the weather (rust substrate actually strengthens steel). After much research, I chose this as the construction material. The fence has been up for 10 months and proves to be the absolute perfect choice in material! Using COR-TEN is sensible; It provides better privacy, it reduces the outdoor noise-level; it is cool to the touch, even during the day; and the new plants love the texture and soon will be climbing & attaching themselves to the surface of the newly rusted panels. This provided a good vibe from the beginning - I felt as if I was a "valued customer".
