She loved working with these fantastic clients – they eagerly embraced a playful use of color and bold design choices! Finished in a colorful traditional style, this home is full of timeless architecture mixed with modern details. From a navy and bright orange office to a green floral dining room, each room on the main floor makes a unique statement but flows together through similar artwork and rugs. Upstairs, the master bedroom is a serene sanctuary. Brandi added wood beams, handmade wall coverings, and an extra custom-built closet. This accessory dwelling unit perfectly demonstrates a way to expand a home's square footage creatively; in this case, our clients created a guest house including a bedroom, living area, and full bathroom with artsy Boulder flare. Having an ADU that includes a bedroom and living room gives these clients extra space to host guests, rent, or create a flex space such as a home office or art studio.
The most striking feature of this project is how the dwelling appears to be floating, one of the more challenging aspects of the project, which creates a truly modern aesthetic.
This project's most exciting design elements are the pops of color that give this space life and personality. Designers incorporated turquoise hexagon tile throughout the entire bathroom. The seamless way the flooring acts as a base for the whole bathroom, including the shower flooring, is an attractive design choice that makes for a clean and simple aesthetic. Simple, floating cabinets and bathroom vanity are a modern touch that provides plenty of storage and extenuate the bold tile below.
Everything from the bright red door and minimalist design choice gives this space a cozy yet minimalist, Scandinavian aesthetic.

We moved the sink out of the corner which gave us added storage more floor space. We made the sink area special with an apron sink which is backed by an extra deep, tiled window sil perfect for wall mounting a faucet and displaying herbs. We took the tile to the ceiling and added these sweet custom window treatments for some added personality.

This is a view from the master bedroom to the study. To matching wood mirrors were added over the double sink vanity to give each person their own space. The gorgeous large walk-in shower has glass surround to keep the bathroom light and airy. A tall linen cabinet was added at the end of the bathroom for extra storage. We kept original floor. Recessed lights and chandelier for ambiance were incorporated into the design.

Contemporary German Kitchen in Rustington, West Sussex
Aron has created a subtle grey theme for this Rustington project, with natural surfaces and lovely personal inclusions.
The Brief
This Rustington client required a modernisation of their kitchen space with special inclusions to suit the way they wanted to use their new kitchen.
A breakfast bar island was sought after, as a place to perch and for casual eating, with a gloss finish and soft pastel tones a preferred theme. Whilst undertaking the works flooring and heating improvements were also required.
Design Elements
Designer Aron conjured a simple u-shape layout to make the most of this space, incorporating a breakfast bar as required, with decorative storage featured above.
Gloss furniture in a Satin Grey finish has been utilised, which reflects around the space to make the room feel larger. The furniture is complemented by Silestone Quartz surfaces, which have been chosen in a natural grey Moorland Fog finish.
The client has chosen to incorporate their favoured pastel colour in the form of a glass splashback, which works well with the Satin Grey cabinetry.
Karndean flooring has been installed within the kitchen as well as in most of the downstairs space in this property. A full-height radiator has also been installed to provide plenty of warmth to the kitchen.
Special Inclusions
High-performance Neff appliances were specified to provide long-lasting functions to the kitchen. The client has opted for a single Slide & Hide oven, combination oven and warming drawer to help them with cooking duties.
Elsewhere a Neff hob, integrated extractor hood and refrigerator complete the appliance requirements for this project.
To decorate the space, this client has opted for some nice storage areas. An underlit shelf is a nice feature and space to store decorative items, which looks particularly nice with the undercabinet lighting also opted for.
Quartz work surfaces have been installed on the large window sill, which has been nicely decorated with plants and decorations.
Project Highlight
The highlight of this project was the breakfast bar area.
It provides a place to eat at any time of day or a nice space to catch up with friends and has been enhanced with glass-fronted wall cabinets and integrated lighting.
This area also helps to equip the kitchen with extra built-in storage.
The End Result
The end result is a kitchen that incorporates all the requirements of the client and more!
In a relatively compact space, Aron has designed a complete and functional kitchen, with plenty of special inclusions and decorative features for this Rustington client.

Tiled niche by the range adds extra storage for spices and dimensional interes in the range wall.
The goal of the project was to update the kitchen and butler's pantry of this over 100 year old house. The kitchen and butler's pantry cabinetry were from different eras and the counter top was disjointed around the existing sink, with an old radiator in the way. The clients were inspired by the cabinetry color in one of our projects posted earlier on Houzz and we successfully blended that with personalized elements to create a kitchen in a style of their own. The butler's pantry behind the range wall with it's lit glass door cabinets matches the kitchen's style and acts as a backdrop for the custom range hood and uniquely tiled wall. We maximized the counter space around the custom Galley sink by replacing the old radiator that was in the way with a toe space heater, and by extending the integral drain board above the dishwasher.

Houston Interior Designer Lisha Maxey took this Museum District condo from the dated, mirrored walls of the 1980s to Mid Century Modern with a gallery look featuring the client’s art collection.
The place was covered with glued-down, floor-to-ceiling mirrors,” says Lisha Maxey, senior designer for Homescapes of Houston and principal at LGH Design Services in Houston. “When we took them off the walls, the walls came apart. We ended up taking them down to the studs."
The makeover took six months to complete, primarily because of strict condo association rules that only gave the Houston interior designers very limited access to the elevator – through which all materials and team members had to go.
“Monday through Friday, we could only be noisy from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and if we had to do something extra loud, like sawing or drilling, we had to schedule it with the management and they had to communicate that to the condo owners. So it was just a lot of coordination. But a lot of Inner City Loopers live in these kinds of buildings, so we’re used to handling that kind of thing.”
The client, a child psychiatrist in her 60s, recently moved to Houston from northeast Texas to be with friends. After being widowed three years ago, she decided it was time to let go of the traditionally styled estate that wasn’t really her style anyway. An avid diver who has traveled around the world to pursue her passion, she has amassed a large collection of art from her travels. Downsizing to 1,600 feet and wanting to go more contemporary, she wanted the display – and the look – more streamlined.
“She wanted clean lines and muted colors, with the main focus being her artwork,” says Maxey. “So we made the space a palette for that.”
Enter the white, gallery-grade paint she chose for the walls: “It’s halfway between satin and flat,” explains Maxey. “It’s not glossy and it’s not chalky – just very smooth and clean."
Adding to the gallery theme is the satin nickel track lighting with lamps aimed to highlight pieces of art. “This lighting has no wires,” notes Maxey. “It’s powered by a positive and negative conduit.”
The new flooring throughout is a blended-grey porcelain tile that looks like wood planks. “It’s gorgeous, natural-looking and combines all the beauty of wood with the durability of tile,” says Maxey. “We used it throughout the condo to unify the space.”
After Maxey started looking at the client’s bright, vibrant, colorful artwork, she felt the palette couldn’t stay as muted anymore. Hence the Mid Century Modern orange leather sofas from West Elm and bright green chairs from Joybird, plus the throw pillows in different textures, patterns and shades of gold, orange and green.
The concave lines of the Danish-inspired chairs, she notes, help them look beautiful from all the way around – a key to designing spaces for loft living.
“The table in the living room is very interesting,” notes Maxey. “It was handmade for the client in 1974 and has a signature on it from the artist. She was adamant about including the piece, which has all these hand-painted black-and-white art tiles on the top. I took one look at it and said ‘It’s not really going to go.’”
However, after cutting 6 inches off the bottom and making it look a little distressed, the table ended up being the perfect complement to the sofas.
The dining room table – from Design Within Reach – is a solid piece of mahogany, the chair upholstery a mix of grey velvet and leather and the legs a shiny brass. “The side chairs are leather and the end ones are velvet,” says Maxey. “It’s a nice textural mix that lends depth and texture.”The galley kitchen, meanwhile, has been lightened and brightened, with new, white contemporary cabinetry, quartz countertops mimicking the look of Carrara marble, stainless steel appliances and a velvet green bench seat for a punch of color. The two bathrooms have been updated with contemporary white vanities and vessel sinks and the master bath now features a walk-in shower tiled in Dolomite white marble (the floor is Bianco Carrara marble mosaic, done in a herringbone pattern). In the master bedroom, Homescapes of Houston knocked down a wall between two smaller closets with swing doors to make one large walk-in closet with pocket doors. The closet in the guest bedroom also came out 13 more inches. The client’s artwork throughout personalizes the space and tells the story of a life. There’s a huge bowl of shells from the client’s diving adventures, framed art from her child psychiatry patients and a 16th century wood carving from a monastery that’s been in her family forever.
“Her collection is quite impressive,” says Maxey. “There’s even a framed piece of autographed songs written by John Lennon.” (You can see this black-framed piece of art on the wall in the photo above of two green chairs).
“We’re extremely happy with how the project turned out, and so is the client,” says Maxey. “No expense was spared for her. It was a labor of love and we were excited to do it.”

These beautiful kitchen cabinets bring extra space and style into this kitchen remodel. the glass fronts allow the pieces inside to be shown off and add personal touches to the kitchen. The range hood and seashell decorations add a beach feel along with the blue painted island divider. The hanging lights allow for a closer look when cooking or completing work at the island and the recessed lighting throughout the kitchen brightens the space. A hidden microwave allows for a less cluttered counter and the hardwood flooring brings warmth and a transition to the kitchen from the downstairs living space.

Having lived in England and now Canada, these clients wanted to inject some personality and extra space for their young family into their 70’s, two storey home. I was brought in to help with the extension of their front foyer, reconfiguration of their powder room and mudroom.
We opted for some rich blue color for their front entry walls and closet, which reminded them of English pubs and sea shores they have visited. The floor tile was also a node to some classic elements. When it came to injecting some fun into the space, we opted for graphic wallpaper in the bathroom.

Ezra got the old master and Mom was worried that he would miss his grand old room so we needed to make his bedroom extra fun and special. Plus yes he's a funky spunky three year old with fab curly hair a totally deserves a fun space. I wanted to do something that complimented his personality but could also grow with him.
This little guy left his house in his crib and diapers and returned as a new man to his big boy room, potty trained, and ready for a real bed.
