The Living Room is a small space with the need to provide enough seating to have family and friends over comfortably. In this case we used two sofas and a complimentary armchair. The more vivid colour chosen for the armchair did a great job of breaking up the blacks in the architectural features such as the fireplace and black radiators around the bay window.
Also, I wanted to soften up the darker interior features and metal details in the room by adding textiles. Textiles are a vital addition to help soften up the whole view of the room. Fore examples, a rug always brings it all together; and by all, I mean all of the furniture that is focusing into the centre of the room. The cushions chosen worked to break up the colours of the sofa and introduce a beautiful dusky pink to support the armchair; my client fell in love with this colour when we found the chair. My overall inspiration was to create a very pale and neutral colour palette that still has something a little unexpected.
I chose a black framed coffee table which supports the fireplace and radiators - I really wanted to find a table that you could either extend or separate in case you have more friends around and need some extra surface for your snacks or drinks.
Like most, this couple also needed space for their personal collections, books, hobbies and wall art. Fitting all of these things into one room is always going to be a challenge, but never impossible. And, I hope you’ll agree that it turned out to be a pretty cosy living space with room enough for everyone.
Kuche & Bagno Kitchens - Bathrooms - Interiors
A stay in a boutique hotel means relaxing in luxury, with the softest bedding, chic furniture, impeccable décor and a lavish lavatory. But why leave all that indulgence behind, when you could have a boutique-inspired bathroom all of your own back at home?
Interior designer Lisa Melvin recently completed a project that she calls the Wellness Suite. This stunning bathroom would fit in perfectly in a high-end hotel in Mayfair or Kensington, and it’s also marvellous inspiration for anyone looking to create a modern, stylish and functional bathroom.
Her vision for the decadent room was “to create a space based on design rather than products”. The result was a high-end bathroom that is luxurious, easy to keep clean and a joy to be inside. Although the Wellness Suite incorporated some of the very best products on the market, featuring modern materials and technology, Lisa notes that the results could be easily scaled to suit other budgets and spaces. “It’s a room that could, potentially, be in anybody’s property” she explains.
For example, the room includes a Neorest AC Washlet. Priced at £12,000, this top-of-the-line washlet from Japanese manufacturer TOTO boasts not only the most expensive washlet in the world, but also the only washlet on the planet that has a self-clean function. However, other models are available, hitting all price points down to £1,000, so the setting could be scaled back to meet tighter budgets.
On the other hand, additional features could be incorporated to bump up the luxury factor even more.
“A heated Sanoasa lounger from wedi – like the type you find in spas – would be a wonderful addition to a more spacious bathroom,” she says.
The Washlet is something of a centrepiece of the room. This high-tech shower toilet has a sensor-activated lid that opens and closes by itself, an automatic flush and an adjustable dryer. There’s a wand-jet system that uses warm water for personal cleansing, while a heated seat and deodoriser help to ensure a pleasant trip to the toilet every time. The Washlet even cleans itself. An integrated UV light interacts with the special zirconium coating on the bowl; this triggers a photocatalytic process that breaks down organic substances and helps to ensure the bathroom is always hygienic.
Lisa also used a sink and bath manufactured by TOTO to complement the decanted throne and create a consistent aesthetic. Another benefit to these TOTO products is that the resin used to make them is translucent, “so you can have this beautiful glow coming through it. It’s not only durable – it’s also really beautiful,” Lisa says.
Dekton is a large-format surface material that is traditionally used for kitchen worktops, and it’s ideal for bathroom surfaces as well. Since it comes in a huge range of colours and finishes, it can also match any design scheme with ease. Another benefit of Dekton is that it creates a – literally – seamless appearance. Lisa explains, “We moves away from tiles by using Dekton. This eliminated grout lines, which can be the cause of potential leaks.” Grout lines can also become soiled and discoloured over time, even with a rigorous cleaning regime in place.
“Using Dekton as wall cladding is a very slick way of applying the material beyond its traditional purpose. Aesthetically, it’s very pleasing, and it retains its good looks for the long term,” Lisa adds.
Large-format tiles were used for the flooring in the Wellness Suite but since each one measures 1200mm square, grout lines were kept to a minimum. In the few places where a joint was required, Lisa opted for an epoxy grout that’s practically invisible. Once it’s set it’s more like an acrylic – non-porous, smooth and very hard – so it easily resists dirt and grease.
Lisa loves to create hidden spaces within her designs. While the Wellness Suite might look like it has no storage at all, it actually has lots.
“In this room, we’ve created two large secret storage spaces that you wouldn’t know were there unless they were pointed out to you,” she says.
Three large mirrors stretch from floor to ceiling. They lift the room, making it look brighter and bigger – and thanks to concealed hinges, one of them swings open to reveal an enormous hidden cupboard with glass shelving and LED lights.
She has also hidden a large drawer under the bath surround, perfect for storing towels, spare loo rolls and extra bottles of shampoo. Bespoke floating cubes finished in matching smoked mirror adds both function and dimension to the room. A neat, subtly lit library niche housing your latest reading material is a winning combination when teamed with the TOTO Neorest AC Washlet’s heated seat.
Paying attention to the smallest details is essential in creating a decadent bathroom, and recent innovations have led to a seemingly endless range of choice. When it comes to taps and ironmongery, homeowners are no longer limited to chrome or brass finishes. Hansgrohe’s Axor FinishPlus range of taps and bath fillers comes in 15 different polished or brushed finishes including black, bronze, stainless steel and two shades of gold. “It’s all about the detail,” Lisa adds. “Ordinarily, taps and showers are brass with a chrome finish. But metallic like gold, bronze copper and brass are becoming more and more popular in interiors, and with the Axor range, you get a choice of what colour your taps are coated with.”
In the Wellness Suite, Lisa opted for an Axor Uno² wall-mounted tap and a Massaud bath filler in brushed nickel.
“The beauty of being able to choose from so many colours means you can really fine-tune the overall look you’re trying to create,” she says.
“The room has a moody, glamorous and luxurious feel, with the Dekton surfacing in black and dark brown, oversized mirrors and a Japanese-style theme to the window. The brushed nickel finish on the ironmongery completes the look and helps this already dramatic room make an even stronger statement.”
No matter how beautiful a bathroom is, it also needs to be comfortable – nobody likes the feeling of a cold floor on bare feet first thing in the morning. So Lisa has included an electric underfloor heating system. This is a secondary heating source, specifically to take the chill off the floor – and since it’s connected to a timer/thermostat, cold tiles are a thing of the past. The main heating is supplied by an Aeon radiator. Made of black granite, it looks more like a piece of art than a radiator. Plus, the stainless-steel towel bars ensure your towels are always warm and dry quickly – saving on laundry too.
In every interior, lighting is key, as it sets the mood and ensures the space is functional as well as good looking. The TOTO bathroom includes a combination of mood, ambient and task lighting, so users can set the scene as required – whether you want to jump out of bed and quickly get ready for work, or you want a soft glow for a lovely long soak at the end of a hard day. As mentioned before, the TOTO sink and bath are made of a translucent resin material and they incorporate LED lights that can be adjusted from a bright light to a soft glow, perfect for a relaxing bath.
“Homeowners could also consider using RGB LEDs, which can be charged to any colour, depending on the atmosphere they wish to create,” Lisa adds.
A set of glazed pocket doors slide open to reveal the shower room, which features an Axor Shower Heaven. This large overhead shower measures 1200 by 302mm and incorporates built-in lighting. It can be adjusted to provide three different spray patterns: RainAir (rain jet entrenched with air), mono and powder rain. The three options can be used individually or in combination, and can also be aimed at different spray zones.
Décor Aid
To reimagine his loft in the heart of Hoboken, his Décor Aid project manager took on the challenge from the ground up.
By pairing him with the best construction service providers in New Jersey, his project manager oversaw a powerful transformation that would meld the kitchen and living areas with timeless dark finished wooden flooring. For the kitchen, our renovation experts reimagined the space with updated contemporary cabinetry, high-shine matte appliances, a stone and tile backsplash, and marble countertops.
Décor Aid interior designer Nicolina E. was brought in to enhance his existing furnishings while changing the overall mood of the loft by switching the original moody color palette of deep reds and dark blues with a fresh coat of paint in a brighter and more soothing eggshell hue.
She introduced color into the space by taking cues from his classic Oriental rug – a family heirloom, as a foundation. Accessories and additional furnishings featuring light and airy blues, beiges, and creams were brought in to add life to his existing couch. For a touch of personality new artwork, decorative extras and a modern, multi-dimensional entertainment center were sourced to fill a large empty wall.
From basic to refined, this was a quick home refresh handled with ease and a considered finessing of some of our client’s cherished furnishings.

This homeowner had inherited a small, bleak, builder grade master bathroom that was inexplicably chopped up into tiny pieces with various walls and doorways in between the fixtures.
Starting a new life after the loss of a loved one, she wanted to create a master bath refuge designed specifically for her. If a bathroom could represent light, joy, and peace, that is what she wanted.
We started by choosing a creamy yellow base color, accented with the sparkle of glass mosaic. All the extra walls came tumbling down, and we bumped out the exterior wall with a generously proportioned bay window and window seat.
Next we reconfigured the fixtures, discarding a tired fiberglass bath/shower unit and replacing it with a full wall of glass across the back of the room, defining a spacious shower with a fold down teak bench. A simple and beautiful basin sink sits on a luxuriously sized vanity, while custom cabinetry goes up the wall and over the double entry doors.
Finally, the focal point of the entire room is the custom designed tile on the back wall of the shower. The owner wanted to feel as if she was in a rainforest under a beautiful tree.
To execute this custom tile mural we worked closely with the tile setters, literally laying the entire wall of tiles out on the floor of the adjacent room for them to transfer to the actual wall. With a quiet backdrop of unassuming white subway tile, we reconfigured mosaic sheets to the forms we required, using specifically colored grout to bring each element to life.
The result is a fully functional personal, peaceful, sunny retreat.

This kitchen renovation in Bloomfield Hills is full of unique design features that help define the personality of the home. A 5' Galley Workstation and elongated island with a seating area are perfect for entertaining, family gatherings, or day-to-day casual dining. The island cabinetry has a different finish than the perimeter 3/4 height cabinets, and the hutch offers a bar with x-muntins plus extra storage, beverage refrigerator, and dishwasher. The Elica stainless range hood provides both light and filtered ventilation, and the sliding barn door adds a rustic touch to this beautiful craftsman style kitchen design.

You know by now we love designing in Bend, and Caldera Springs just feels like home! This project, (a collaboration with Olsen Bros. Construction and Heidi Byrnes Design) is the “forever home” for a couple relocating from Lake Oswego. Soaring wood ceilings, open living spaces and ample bedroom suites informed the client’s classic/modern finish choices.
The furnishings aesthetic began with fabric to inspire pattern and color, and the story for each room unfolded from there. The great room is dressed in deep green, rust and cream, reflecting the natural palette outside every door and window. A pair of plush sofas large enough to nap on, swivel chairs to take in the view, and unique leather ottomans to tuck in where needed, invite lounging and conversation.
The primary and back guest suites offer the most incredible window seats for cozying up with your favorite book. Layered with custom cushions and a pile of pillows, they’re the best seat in the house.
Exciting wallpaper selections for each bathroom provided playful focal walls, from the deep green vinyl grass cloth in the primary bath, to a forest of sparkling tree lines in the powder bath. Amazing how wallpaper can define the personality of a space!
This home is full of color, yet minimal in the “extras” and easy to maintain. It’s always refreshing for us to return to a home we dressed months ago and have it look just like we left it! We know it will provide a warm welcome for the owners and their guests for years to come!

This kitchen was once dark and brown and will some changes it is like night and day. We went with extra white on the upper cabinets and a soft sage green on the lowers to tie in the existing counters and floors. The back splash was outdated and client wanted something with a little more personality so we went with a neutral Moroccan style tile in a crackle finish for some depth. The lighting was the cherry on top, clear glass in a simple cone shape with some well designed metal hardware for a standout accent piece.

Reimagined Trend Kitchen in Horsham, West Sussex
Situated in a quaint Horsham Close this project undertook more than just a kitchen renovation, with significant ancillary and building work undertaken to create a flowing kitchen diner space for the client.
The most important element to this project was space. The client had a vision to combine a smaller kitchen area with a dining room that didn’t function as they wished to use it. The previous layout of this property meant that the client did not end up using the dining room to its full potential, which with the our input has now changed dramatically.
Achieving this not only required the work of our expert designers but an array of our installation team who specialise in this kind of internal building work. With their experience a small archway between the kitchen and dining room was transformed into a wide, blown open space that would soon function as an open-plan kitchen diner for the client. Alongside the internal structure of the property a full plaster of all walls was also undertaken to achieve a show home like finish, ready for the customer to put their personal touches into a kitchen and dining space.
Kitchen Furniture
With a blank canvas achieved thanks to the internal shake up, the client was free to implement their dream kitchen space, leaning on the timeless combination of Cream shaker furniture and sparkling white worktops. To create a well-balanced kitchen space supplier choice was key. Although taken by the shaker style kitchen door, the client also desired a slightly contemporary twist that would help maintain a subtle present-day feel. For this aesthetic, supplier Trend was a perfect choice. Utilising their vast range of modern shaker style options, the eventual choice of a foiled matt shaker was selected in the light neutral colour option of Ivory.
Upon deciding the general theme of the kitchen furniture, it was then up to kitchen designer George Harvey from our Horsham showroom to make the most of the space with a layout that would facilitate this client’s initial brief. One of the most impressive elements of this project is the peninsula island space. Recessed slightly into and around the previous dividing wall, this space gives storage, surface space and the flexibility of casual dining. The remaining kitchen furniture is used in an L-shape and also houses the majority of kitchen appliances. Wall units are used to disguise a boiler, integrated extractor and to provide extra storage space above.
To keep the kitchen theme undisturbed integrated appliances have been used where possible, with an integrated dishwasher, washing machine and integrated extractor hood all disguised behind the Ivory door fronts. All appliances throughout this space have been installed by our qualified team with plumbing and appliances connected as part of the project.
The main appliance choices that the client had to make were in regard to cooking appliances, where they sought a combination of capacity and flexibility. A built-under double oven gives capacity with two cavities to cook from in, an appliance that also incorporates a neat LCD display and easy clean functionality. Flexibility when cooking has been fused into the cooking appliances with a four zone N50 hob from our renowned appliance supplier Neff, giving the option of instant and powerful cooking to the client.
Kitchen Accessories
Various accessories have been used across this project to maintain the theme, each providing a blend between the traditional kitchen style and the contemporary feel that the client desired. A neat inclusion is the traditional Belfast sink which is one of the classic kitchen elements that client specified for this project. It is matched with a contemporary chrome mixer tap from German supplier Blanco’s Max range and shows just one instance where a fusion of styles has been used in this space.
The worktops selected are from Silestone, a quartz worktop manufacturer which utilises up to eighty-percent natural quartz in their worktops. Using quartz worktops not only gives a great aesthetic, it means that surfaces are highly resistant to heat, impact and they are also non-porous so are impervious to water. To bring a glittering shine to this project the popular Stellar Blanco has been used in thirty-millimetre thickness to give a beautiful gleaming appearance.
Kitchen Features
With extensive building work being undertaken this was an ideal opportunity for the client to replace general features while the work was taking place. With our experienced installation team on hand flooring, heating and lighting improvements have been made. Radiators have been replaced with two full height radiators from supplier Eastbrook. Both radiators were selected in a Matt White finish with useful towel rails incorporated on the kitchen radiator to dry tea towels after use.
With plastering and decorating taking place, our electrician has seamlessly installed downlights and pendant lighting above the island area to bring well-spaced lighting options. To bring ambient lighting in the evening undercabinet spotlighting is included beneath wall units and to complete the installation, Warm Oak Karndean flooring has been fitted throughout the kitchen space as well as other areas in the property. For easy cleaning a transparent glass splashback has also been included above the induction hob area.

Take a peek at one of our newest kitchen renovation projects in Slingerlands! This project was led by the talented Project Manager, Tony Cicchino, and creative genius Sarah McDonald as the Designer. Our clients had a vision to transform their outdated kitchen into a gourmet cook’s dream. The goal was to update the colors and features, using the dark blue cabinets as the focal point while incorporating trendy gold accents for that extra pizazz! To maintain a cohesive flow throughout the home, we extended the flooring into the adjoining living area and the homeowner added touches of blue, reminiscent of the dark hue found in the kitchen. The seamless transition ensures a harmonious ambiance that captivates the eye. Knowing our client’s passion for cooking, we created a customized kitchen space that perfectly caters to their needs. The custom island provides a spacious top that offers additional seating, room for prepping, and is the perfect meeting spot between the two spaces. The transformation is truly breathtaking, and we couldn’t be happier with the amazing job our Bennett team did in making this masterpiece come to life. If you’re looking to revamp your kitchen into a personalized haven, just like our amazing clients did, reach out to Bennett today! We can create a space that inspires culinary magic together.

This kitchen remodel in Lakewood has undergone such an amazing transformation from a dark, dated space to bright and functional! We experienced many obstacles in this tight space but was able to design around the challenges to create a beautiful and functional space. The original design intent was to bring the cabinets all the way to the ceiling but found out this wasn’t an option as all the soffits had interior mechanical systems and couldn’t be reconfigured. One solution was to raise the soffits on the range and sink walls to gain an extra 6” of cabinet space and build out the soffit above the refrigerator to create a custom built-in look. This extension of the soffit created the perfect opportunity for a narrow pantry cabinet facing the dining room which adds much needed storage space. By painting the soffits the same color as the cabinets, we were able to install the crown trim on top of the soffit in lieu of the cabinets to create the illusion of taller cabinets and lengthening the ceiling height. We omitted the wall cabinet to the left of the range to create a more open space both visibly and functionally. This provided the opportunity to install an accent pendant over the open counter which has been lowered to maintain one counter height throughout for a seamless look. Decorative door panels give the perfect finishing touches on the cabinetry and truly convey a custom look. The cabinets were finished in Waypoint’s Shaker style in Linen color and were paired with Amrock’s stunning gunmetal finish hardware. The existing floor tile was replaced with Daltile’s Forest Park Maple wood-look plank which now extends into the dining room creating a natural separation of kitchen/dining space to the adjacent Family room. The warmth of the floor tile compliments the Linen cabinetry color and Gunmetal finishes throughout. This beautiful kitchen offers a beautiful and functional design solution and we are thrilled our client can love their personalized kitchen for many years to come!

In this white kitchen renovation, we removed the old wooden shaker-style kitchen cabinetry and replaced them with all new white and grey cabinets, and white marble counter tops. Expertly hidden behind some of these cabinets is the family’s new walk-in pantry.
The original space had a small, awkward-shaped kitchen island that was so small it was barely functional or convenient for more than one person to sit at. We gave the homeowners a much larger kitchen island, with a beveled edge, that now has more than enough space for eating, socializing, or doing work. With a large overhang counter top on one side, there is now room for several backless bar stools tucked under the island. You’ll also notice glitters of gold inside the two over-sized lighting fixtures suspended over the island.
We created the homeowners a small wok kitchen just off of their new white kitchen renovation. In the main kitchen, we added a ceramic flat cook top and subtle white exhaust hood with an elegant rose-gold trim. Behind it, a white/grey mosaic back splash acts as a wall accent to provide some dimension to the otherwise solid white space. Surrounding the range hood are two large wall cabinets with clear doors to provide extra storage without adding bulk to the newly opened room.
The adjacent dining room was also updated to include a long, contemporary dining table with comfortable seating for eight (ten if you want to get cozy). We replaced the low-hanging run-of-the-mill chandelier with a higher, more modern style made of gold and glass. Behind it all is a new dark grey accent wall with a paneled design to add dimension and depth to the new brighter room.

This Spanish influenced Modern Farmhouse style Kitchen incorporates a variety of textures and finishes to create a calming and functional space to entertain a houseful of guests. The extra large island is in an historic Sherwin Williams green with banquette seating at the end. It provides ample storage and countertop space to prep food and hang around with family. The surrounding wall cabinets are a shade of white that gives contrast to the walls while maintaining a bright and airy feel to the space. Matte black hardware is used on all of the cabinetry to give a cohesive feel. The countertop is a Cambria quartz with grey veining that adds visual interest and warmth to the kitchen that plays well with the white washed brick backsplash. The brick backsplash gives an authentic feel to the room and is the perfect compliment to the deco tile behind the range. The pendant lighting over the island and wall sconce over the kitchen sink add a personal touch and finish while the use of glass globes keeps them from interfering with the open feel of the space and allows the chandelier over the dining table to be the focal lighting fixture.
