The design of the house is sensitive to the neighborhood and the site, while incorporating our requests. The design/build aspect was seamless, from permitting all the way through to finish work. “My wife and I have used Brad at Custom Builders many times since 2016 when we purchased our home from them. We purchased our home while already under construction and had our first of many positive experiences with them finishing the construction to our tastes and design. Since 2016 we have had them do multiple big projects. A year after moving in, we had Brad and his team back to finish our basement where we added a full bath, office/bedroom with a built-in desk and walk in closet along with a large family room space aka man town. May 2022 was our most recent project, where we had them back both expand our deck and add a garage under the deck. We couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, all of our experiences were nothing short of exceptional. First and foremost, Brad and his team demonstrated unparalleled professionalism and expertise throughout the entire process. They took the time to understand my vision for the project and provided valuable insights and suggestions to enhance it further. “For our project, my wife and I wanted to build a house that "fit in" on a street full of charming 19th century New England style homes. Eric Gilmore, president of Gilmore Building Company, a custom home builder in central MA, worked with us and his architect associates to develop a concept that combined our custom floor plan goals with traditional architecture using the Greek Revival style prevalent on the street to build a "new old home". To complete the look, Eric custom designed many of the exterior and interior trim and molding patterns himself. The exterior design turned out to be so authentic that at one point later in the construction phase, an acquaintance that didn't know we were doing this house project remarked to me as we drove past the construction site, "Aw, isn't it nice that someone is restoring that beautiful old house?" ... but it was this new house: goal exceeded! This was our first custom home, so we were looking for a low risk, low stress process. One option available from Gilmore Building Company that matched our needs was to start with a fixed cost design phase that delivers a firm final construction price, detailed drawings, and full part specifications before digging begins. Once all the design goals were realized and the plans were drawn up, construction went smoothly. Weekly on-site meetings helped review progress and answer the "this or that" questions that inevitably come up during the build of a custom home. We are now moved in and enjoying all the hard work that Eric and his team put in to the painstakingly designed, quality built, energy efficient home that has all the features we asked for -- and it fits right into the neighborhood.”

“Mike and his crew are great. He is very responsive, and will make sure that you have an end product you are satisfied with. He installed a master bath in our new house's third floor, in what previous contractors had said would be "impossible" or overly difficult due to the sloped attic roof. The results are phenomenal, and we were able to select every element we wished, from fixtures, tile, tile placement, trim, and details, such as edging and baseboards. The crew was kind, flexible, and moreover, they are polite and easy to be around, which is vital if one works from home. Mike replies promptly to texts, and always calls or stops by when something isn't clear. We stayed firmly within budget, completed the job for an extremely reasonable price, and his contractors detected and fixed leaks caused by the work of a local contractor we had previously hired--we will always be grateful for that. When we didn't like an element or noticed mistakes, we told him, and it was no problem and it got fixed, even if creative problem-solving was needed. We would recommend ByHome without hesitation to anyone.”
