“In August 2014, we purchased a 38 year old condominium in Ottawa. We recognized the condominium would have to be completely renovated, in order that it met our needs, prior to us actually moving into it. HOME Inc. was one of three companies that we approached regarding our renovations. We chose HOME Inc. due to apparent expertise, estimates and services offered. We are very pleased that we did so. The kitchen and both bathrooms were completely designed for us and we had significant input into the design and choice of the fixtures, cabinets and tiling, etc. In some cases, we gave general requirements and left the final choice up HOME Inc. For example, the first time that we actually saw the hardwood flooring was during its actual installation. In all cases, we were pleased with the choices made for us. Our renovations were not really smooth and there were numerous times when we had to act on situations that arose. However, since we lived over a four hour drive from Ottawa, it was reassuring for us to be dealing with an organization in which we had complete trust. “We had no prior relationship with Oakwood, but were impressed with the quality of staff that we dealt with, from the first contact through to the finished renovation. We needed a variance to be allowed to obtain the proper permits and John Liptak, owner of Oakwood was instrumental in obtaining this on our behalf. Without his personal interest in our renovation, we would not have proceeded with the project. John also gave us the benefit of his years of experience with various suggestions for our room. Our design specialist was wonderful, offering many unique ideas for us to consider, always offering various solutions to meet our budget. We particularly love the windows and paneling in our great room. The quality of the work was top notch. The wood craftsman assigned to our project did an exceptional job on the ceiling beams and the paneling. Dave’s work makes this room so beautiful and unique. The project manager was very knowledgeable and worked on our behalf to make sure that all the little details were dealt with to our satisfaction. Trent was very responsive to our needs and concerns. “We hired Distinctive Kitchens and Baths (DKB) to design and install a new shower for our ensuite in our new home. The builder had originally installed a small, basic corner shower and we were looking for other options. DKB visited our home, took measurements, offered us options and prepared a written quote the listed all the tasks and materials required to complete the job. The job required the removal of the old shower and the bulkhead that was above it, moving the plumbing in the floor and wall to accommodate the new shower, installing a knee wall, cement board, shower base, tiling, plumbing fixtures, and new customize shower surround. The project also required that the ceiling be repaired as a result of removing the angled bulkhead. DKB sent in all the different trades to handle each job. All the trades laid down floor covers to protect our homes and all were professional, courteous and very friendly. Every day DKB dropped by our home to ensure that everything was going well and to answer any questions that we may have. The project was delivered on time and on budget.”
