Gulfield Contracting
General Contractors in Ray Brook
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsMarch 5, 2024
“We hired Gulfield Contracting to repair several rooms in our home. The house had multiple areas that needed repair to the ceiling and walls. We had a plumbing issue that required cutting holes in our living room, bathroom and bedroom. Gulfield Contracting came to our rescue!! They did an outstanding job! The quality of their work was exceptional. They were extremely careful not to get the spackling or sanding dust on our existing carpet. I wish I had taken pictures of before and after the repairs because when they finished the job you would not know that our walls were torn apart!! I would highly recommend them.”

“We are quite pleased with our full master bathroom renovation including a custom tiled no threshold shower completed by Re-modern Homes/All Aspects Tile and Carpentry. We would recommend this company and hire them again for future projects.”

“Working with Braeside Builders for our master bathroom renovation was a great experience from start to finish. Griffin was meticulous from the initial planning stage to the last finishes. He skillfully translated our vision into a bathroom we love. He has great ideas, is smart, very professional and delivers. It was a pleasure working with him and his equally professional sub contractors.”
Staepel Construction LLC -
General Contractors in Ray Brook
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsJanuary 8, 2015
“Professional and meticulous. Easy to work with, easy going, but professional. I have known and worked with Staepel Construction for over 10 years now. The work that is created is always exact and original. Every piece I see wether it's a picture frame or complete new construction has careful attention to detail and is an exciting surprise. I'd be happy to recommend this company to anyone needing any construction work done, large or small.”
New Frameworks Natural Design Build
General Contractors in Ray Brook
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsApril 22, 2016
“Ours is primarily a DIY project – a timber-framed, strawbale-wrapped house with external stud walls containing dense-packed cellulose insulation and (eventually) clapboard siding. We greatly benefited from consulting with New Frameworks Natural Design Build starting early in our design/planning process. Co-owner Jacob Deva Racussin, is very knowledgeable, thorough, friendly and outstanding teacher, who met with us several times and provided very useful feedback and suggestions, as well as instructions and sources for specialized construction supplies. He visited our project site several times, and taught us (and friends) how to shape and build with the bales. We also hired a New Frameworks crew, including co-owner Ace McArleton, to apply the base coat of plaster on the interior straw-bale walls. They were wonderful - very hardworking, plus enjoyable to work with! We very much appreciate everyone’s flexibility in working with us through our long, complicated and somewhat chaotic process. We think the world of all the New Frameworks Natural Design Build people and highly recommend them!”
H.J. LeBoeuf & Son, Inc.
General Contractors in Ray Brook
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsAugust 1, 2016
“Outstanding design and excellent quality workmanship. We have hired HJL twice, once in 2008 for a major renovation, and again in 2015 for a smaller project consisting of a balcony, a trellis, and some deck railings. Norm has a gift for seeing the potential of a space and coming up with creative approaches that we never would have come up with on our own. We have found him to be a clear communicator and great to work with. Our 1980s era house has been transformed into a beautiful and unconventional contemporary home that is warm and efficient but gives a feeling of being connected to the natural surroundings from anywhere indoors. We have recommended him to others and wouldn't hesitate to work with him again.”
Tim McCarthy Architect PC
General Contractors in Ray Brook
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsAugust 10, 2012
“Other than being an incredibly pleasant person, Tim is a great thinker. He has saved us from doing things wrong several times. He listens and evaluates carefully. Brilliant ideas are worked up collaboratively so the husband ego is intact. Since I usually make "the call" to Tim, this is of great importance. He is up on all the cutting edge ideas and materials. Unlike some architects who lean too far into design and not practicality, Tim has balanced form and function. In our severe weather zone, frost heave, roof ice build up and other concerns must be addressed in design. Tim is available for both small and large projects and has had wide range of experience in many types of construction. Also if you are thinking of doing stone slipform construction--he's your guy. He built his own home this way, nothing like learning from doing! I think you are always best off with an architect who has actual hands-on building experience.”
Salamander Construction Inc.
General Contractors in Ray Brook
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsFebruary 4, 2016
“Salamander Construction remodeled a circa 1940's camp for us at Lake Dunmore, Vermont. I highly recommend them. They did an excellent job in a design/build capacity. They took a seasonal cabin and transformed it into a 4 bedroom, 2 bath 4 season home, new kitchen, new bathrooms, new electric. The home blends perfectly with the surroundings. It is now so well insulated that we can keep it very livable with just a couple of logs in the wood stove. Jed and his workers are all very professional- and they left the property in excellent condition. Jed currently acts as my property manager and prepares the property when we want to visit in the winter.”
