They helped us realize the potential of our living room and master bedroom and turned our outdated fixer upper into a modern and stylish family home. First and foremost, they are consummate professionals who are extremely knowledgeable in all areas of building. This was evident with their advice on numerous key parts of the construction that dramatically improved the Architects designs. They quality and craftsmanship of their work is clear in the finished product. Their entire team, from the foreman to the office staff, were such a pleasure to work with and very communicative with us. “The kitchen/dining area in our Shandaken (Catskills), NY house--built in 1967 as an uninsulated hunters' lodge--was on its way out. The oven no longer worked, the third of the three refrigerators we went through was utterly inefficient, the cabinet drawers often stuck as if they were cemented in place! Long story short: Dan Dwyer and his excellent and friendly crew gutted the area, added insulation, installed recessed lighting, rewired extensively, and revamped the plumbing (so that we no longer need to crawl under the house to drain the pipes in winter). They installed the new cabinets perfectly. They removed a wall to extend the small kitchen. All that and more was AFTER Dan himself suggested a new design, including removing the wall, which worked beautifully. When we saw what his crew accomplished with the kitchen (where they discovered and eliminated mold, an unexpected health benefit), and noted the exquisite tiling of the new floor and back splash, we asked them to sand and poly the floor and staircase in the adjacent living room, install insulation there as well, and replace the molding (his suggestion, not ours). We could go on forever: Hire Dan and his people; you will be delighted.”

“Clauss construction put an addition on each side of our lake house. On one side a sun porch with two walk in closets and a basement beneath. On the other side a garage and office on the middle level with a game room above, and a laundry room with a half bath below. New windows were added in the main house to connect the areas. We were given wonderful designs ideas, the workmen where very cooperative and treated it as they would their own house. The worksite was always clean at the end of the day so we were comfortable living through the construction. We have recommended the company and would be more than glad to do so again. We have felt comfortable calling on them when there have been other work to be done.”

“It was a pleasure working with the entire staff at HVHS. My wife and I went to them with a custom 3100 sq. ft. design and they built our dream home. Along the way the design was refined but at no time did we feel pressured to upgrade. Choices were made to fit our lifestyle and budget. All along the way we were presented with a cost breakdown so there were no surprises. When the design was locked in we were given a construction timeline, starting with the site prep right through our sign off of the completed home. There were some changes tied to weather but overall we were pretty close to the original schedule. The tradesmen were all very professional and did exceptional work. Materials used were top of the line. The few things that made it to a punch list were always addressed quickly and usually on the list before I pointed them out. This company takes pride in their work. If you are looking for a quality home, at a fair price, in a reasonable timeframe, this is the company to go with.”
