“Susan did a great job redesigning the landscaping and entrance to the front of our home. Her new layout for the front walkway is brilliant. Her choice of materials for the deck railing and paving are superb. The shrubs and plants are lovely. We particularly like that they bloom at different times of the year.”

“Sitescapes completely landscaped and remedied site problems at my new home. Neil was receptive to my needs and budget and his artistic vision was spot on. The neighbors have been unanimously, strongly complimentary. Everything has been growing beautifully. It was done in 2 phases and Neil has always been responsive to questions. I'm very glad I employed Sitescapes.”

“I have known Meeka Van der Wal, of the Design Farm Group, as both a student in the New York Botanical Garden landscape design program and as a landscape design professional for several years. Meeka is super creative, talented and strives for nothing but excellence in her design work and installations. She has a wonderful repore with clients and her attention to detail makes her a special designer. Meeka is always looking for ways to think outside the box and create special, one of a kind environments for her clients. I would highly recommend The Design Farm Groupe if you are looking for a creative, professional, and talented team!”

“Iris has been the landscaping professional for both a NY city balcony and an East End home. The balcony is challenging, along the Hudson so very strong winds, and home has a lot of different shading issues to deal with. Iris has been the key to making this all work. First, very thoughtful and knowledgeable on the initial design. Knows her plants and has a good vision of where to go. Second, excellent on execution. Shows up when she says, gets the work done in a timely way, and leaves the place looking great. She is always accessible on email and phone, comes when needed, and has a deep bench of folks she works with. Third, great pride in her work. Comes by outside of necessary appointments to check up on the plantings, and has a critical eye so if something is not right she stays on top of it. For us, landscaping is very important and we spend a lot of time and resources on it, and Iris is a great quarterback for what we do. The forms asks for a project date, but after initially getting to know Iris (and replacing another landscaper with her), we have had her give us seasonal contracts for 2012, 2013, and again will in 2014.”

“We cannot say enough good things about ZO Landscaping and the owner, Mike Zinckgraf. When we moved into our new home it became quickly apparent that we needed a complete landscaping overhaul as it had been completely neglected for years. We received 5 bids. Not only was Mike's amongst the most reasonable, it was the most comprehensive and creative. His use of technology allowed us to visualize the changes to our home and therefore make informed choices. The scope of the project included the removal of: all existing grass and greenery, a patio, a retaining wall, our front walk and additonal hardscaping. Mike then re-designed the entire property including the proper grading, two new walkways and stairs, a new sprinkler system, a play area, new grass and new trees, shrubs and plants. He managed multiple subcontractors (electicians, sprinklers and hardscapers) as well as his personal team. Everybody associated with him was eager to please. Throughout the project (which lasted 5 weeks), Mike was on site multiple times a day, was flexible and helpful as our needs and opinions evolved (ie: "we decided last night that we need to put in a swingset. where should we do that? how? or...we don't like where you planted that tree even though we already told you that we did, can you please move it?) , was hyper responsive and available by phone, email and text; and he identified unforeseen problems as they arose and provided us with reasonably priced solutions. There were a number of occasions where Mike could have charged us more as we were left with little alternative, but instead was extremely reasonable in his costs. Mike also worked in partnership with our contractor as we were building a new deck at the same time--Mike provided solutions that had not been considered and saved us over $10,000. The transfortmation was so siginificant that our daughter's have nicknamed him "Mike the Magician!"”

“In 2012 after living in our house for the last 18 years, we decided to update our 1970's colonial rather than move. This project included the landscaping as well as the home itself. After looking at many landscape companies and numerous properties, we decided to hire The LaurelRock Company. We felt that their landscape designers were very current and had a way of listening and interpreting a very botanically uneducated clients wishes! They married our newly remodeled home with our existing pool as if it had always been built this way. The outcome was a very cohesive project that was handled with the utmost professionalism and timeliness. Thank you LaurelRock for helping us have the home of our dreams !”

“As Project Manager for a re-listed Real Estate property, I found Daniel available on a weekend to plan, design, and accessible to immediately install a rooftop garden to suit the owners needs with expedience and excellent quality of service. This was the bulk of the budget for the project and it was worth every penny in terms of re-sale value of the home.”
The Crafted Garden

“I enjoy doing my own gardening, but needed help creating a cohesive design for my 1-acre lawn. Susan of The Crafted Garden evaluated my property, listened to my ideas, and then created a landscape design that could be implemented in stages. She provided drawings, including transparencies over pictures of our existing garden to help us envision the change. She consulted us at each stage, telling us what to expect in costs of labor and plant material. With Susan's crew, we began in Fall '13, altering the site's hard scape, then fine-tuned the beds and planted this spring, completing the first and largest phase of the work. Susan reoriented the approach to our home, widened beds, and created a planting scheme that tied the different areas together, incorporating native species that provide good habitats for birds. Susan and her crew were prompt, worked very quickly, and left the site clean. They accomplished in two weekends what would have taken me 6 months. Susan provided information about what we needed to do to keep our plants healthy -- watering schedules, mulch, etc. it has been exciting to see the the plants flourish and to envision the garden's continuing maturity. (I have inadequate pictures taken with my phone, but will post pictures at another date.) We had a positive experience and I learned a great deal about the process. When we began, I was focused on the plants to be chosen. But it was Susan's careful preparation -- curving a walk here, arcing a bed there -- that showcased our home's best features, and set the stage for a garden that offers us color and lovely scent throughout the seasons. Based on my experience, I highly recommend Susan as a creative and knowledgeable partner.”
