“We took a number of bids from other stair companies and Pike Stair was the only company who said they could do the work we wanted the way we wanted it. Other stair companies "insisted" what we wanted could not be done. In addition, Pike was not the most expensive, and because they said they could do "the impossible", I did have concerns and told the owner about them. He assured me it was going to be done. Once construction began it was discovered my house was not built to code 35 years ago and this caused some problems with installation. In my head I thought, "I knew there were going to be overruns." However, the owner and I discussed the issues and the lack of code was a surprise to him as well as I. We came to a very reasonable agreement on how much extra it was going to cost. I watched on a number of days the work ethic of both Eric Pike and Hanno. I was truly amazed at how hard they worked on such a hard project. Their personal dignity is truly part of the work they do. Doing poor work humiliates them and so they will never allow that to happen even if the "poor work" is in the "eye of the homeowner." I would hire them again and again and attempted to do so, but ran out of money on other improvement projects. When I have the money again I won't even call around as Pike was the only one who wanted to get me what I wanted the way I wanted it. BTW, the stairs came out beautiful. I could not have been more satisfied. In other words they did the impossible for a good price and would not leave a concern unanswered and fixed.”

The job was on time and on budget and the soundproofing and in room acoustics are superb. As a longtime drummer and electric guitarist I have always struggled with sound control and I had a fair amount of skepticism that a studio could be constructed that would allow me to play at volume without disrupting the members of my household or my neighbors. Neil did it. I continue to be amazed at the level of soundproofing he achieved. I can play at measured in room levels of roughly 110 DB and it is whisper quiet inside and outside of my house. The finish work on the job was great and the construction included working with my existing structure to create a vaulted ceiling. Can't say enough about Neil and his company.
