“I have known Martin in a professional capacity since 2001. We initially worked as colleagues at two different mid-size architectural firms over a 2 year period. Martin first came to my attention as a highly skilled Drafting Consultant who was working on some of the more complex projects in the firm. When I moved on to a different company and was asked to recruit new talent, the first person I thought of was Martin. Martin eventually came on board at the new firm and carried a significant project load from day one, allowing his new employer the luxury and financial windfall of billing out a very large and complex luxury multi-family housing project with a modicum of actual manpower. After I founded my own firm, I again recruited Martin when I needed help to complete my own multi-family housing project on a very tight timeline. I gave Martin one of the most challenging technical tasks, that of cutting wall and building sections through this five story building. Martin rose to the challenge and delivered accurate, technically sound work on time and on budget. I knew from past experience that I could count on Martin and he did not let me down. It has been wonderful watching Martin grow his architecture firm into a highly-sought after practice. Martin's attention to detail and craftsmanship shows in all of his projects. His background as a Danish carpenter with many years of architectural practice gives Martin a unique design perspective that other architects simply do not have. “This review covers two projects, the first in 2014 and the second in 2015. 1)Totally new bathroom, including demolition of old walls, floor, ceiling, and removal of old fixtures at the beginning. New infrastructure (wiring, pipes, installation,) installed by the Beard Group electricians and plumbers, and new walls, ceiling, and floor by Beard Group carpenter and tile setters. Our house was built in 1925. The Beard Group has extensive experience and sensitivity to period details in working with Cleveland and Shaker Heights homes from the Arts and Crafts era. All work was of the highest quality, full attention to every small detail. The Beard Group designer guided us in the selection of wall and floor tile, contrasting tile border, color scheme, fixtures, lighting, and decorative details. The staff are highly skilled, pleasant, responsible, and attentive to detail. We enjoyed meeting them and having them in our house. They clean up thoroughly every day. There is good communication through e-mail and texts regarding schedule. The project manager arranged city permits and inspections. We got the estimate in October, and work began in March. It was well worth the wait for such a wonderful outcome. We especially love the tile installation on walls, floor, and shower niche, which are also admired by everyone who sees the new bathroom. 2)The following year, 2015, we contracted with the Beard Group for a complete demolition and remodeling of the kitchen and powder room. Once again we had an outstanding project result, which included optimized spaces for both rooms. All aspects of the design and construction work were excellent, and we have great appreciation for the quality of the design and trades work. The designers were very patient with us as we often took some time to select materials and cabinets. They understood our preference for maintaining the Craftsman period style, but infused with an updated sensibility that has received rave reviews from our friends and family. We have a great respect for all of the Beard Group staff and sincere appreciation for the quality of work performed. One friend, highly experienced with historic preservation, described the new kitchen as a "triumph of design and beauty."”

“Mike and his team did an outstanding job on three rooms in my home!! Kitchen, dining room and mud room. Mike's attention to the smallest detail along with fine craftsmanship were apparent in every aspect of the job. From painting, inlaying a tile floor, putting in cabinetry, to restructuring walls, all applications were perfectly installed and created . The cleaning up each and every day was amazing. He cleaned up better than when I left it and I never had to worry about breathing dust and wood particles as well as not being able to track materials back into other living spaces as areas were cleverly sectioned off, or protected. He got there on time each and every morning to work. He was conscientious and honest about my budget and took my money concerns seriously and proactively. He communicated with me if there was anything else taking precedence over my job and arranged times to continue and stick to the timeline. If you're are a stickler for perfection and want someone who has the pride to create your vision, MK Design is the company to call. I would highly recommend his work for any home remodeling job. You won't be disappointed.”
