“We recently had the pleasure of working with Chris Brophy of CB Architecture and Design on the design of a three-season porch and front portico for our 1937 Colonial house, and the entire experience exceeded my expectations. Instead of imposing a generic design, she paid meticulous attention to the period details of the house, seamlessly incorporating elements that complemented its original charm. We initially wanted just a screened-in porch, but she encouraged us to think about getting more use of our porch, as we live in Minnesota and warm weather is fleeting. She came up with a design that incorporated combination windows that we could remove and still experience the screen porch in the summer, but get more use out of the room in cooler weather. The result was a design that not only felt like a natural extension of our home but also enhanced its overall aesthetic. During the design process, she suggested extending the porch onto a patio and recommended double French doors that we can latch open, making the porch flow to the patio, which maximized the functionality of the space but also added a touch of elegance. She approached the project with a thoughtful and collaborative mindset, actively engaging in brainstorming sessions to ensure the final design met our needs and preferences. Throughout the entire process, Chris maintained open and clear communication, keeping us informed at every stage.
