“Completely renovated our log cabin. They came in and demo'd it. Removing the drop down ceiling, making the whole log cabin 1 big gathering room (the lodge) with cathedral ceiling. They moved the stairs leading to unfinished basement (now finished), replaced all the windows in the log cabin, new ash flooring, new kitchen cupboards,added kitchen island, and countertops, notched out logs to fit new appliances. Also finished basement with new bedroom, laundry room, family room, bathroom and my favorite, "a craft room" from what used to be a "cluttered hall". Also added slider walk out door to patio area and outside shower. “Major renovations at our second home in Brandon, VT. Required complete redesign and reconstruction of the space on the first floor with partial redesign of the second floor with new bathroom added. It was a pleasure to work with Cliff and his crew of Three Oaks Construction and the several sub-contractors that he brought in for various specialized tasks that were part of this major renovation project. Every individual, whether directly on Cliff’s team or part of a sub-contractor’s team, was someone who took pride in their workmanship in every detail that was part of this project and it was obvious to us as we progressed. Even though the renovation was designed with blue-prints supplied by the designer, we got numerous suggestions for alternate approaches from Cliff and his team as the project progressed. Several of these ideas made the alteration have better utility or looks or both. Being in a situation where we had time since we did not have a hard deadline when we were planning on moving into the space, we were able to consider and assess several of the alternatives and act upon the ones we saw most suitable for us. Overall, it was a great experience working with a crew of people who were always pleasant to work with and ready to listen to suggestions and/or questions that arose as the renovations progressed. I have no hesitation in highly recommending Cliff and his entire crew for any construction or carpentry work.”

“I would highly recommend Dovetail Designs! We wanted to do a complete kitchen remodel but didn't have a clear vision of what we were looking for. Jenny came to our house and spent a considerable amount of time with us going over what we wanted in a kitchen and asked questions about our cooking style, etc. She then set to work on developing a kitchen design for us which truly turned out incredible and put all of our ideas into a true vision. Even after we had settled on a plan, Jenny would take additional time to work on the design to find even more ways to perfect it. “Smith & Vansant is a phenomenal architectural firm. In fact, working with them renovated not only my house, but my life! After 15 years or so of living with the property more or less as I found it, my tiny 1850 Cape needed long-overdue renovations -- including improvements to all major systems, solutions to a big water problem in the basement, a new kitchen, a new roof, adding working and living space, and a home office, along with extensive site work and landscaping. From a design perspective, they are simply brilliant. They have a fantastic aesthetic sense; know how to integrate old and new in a way that is pure genius; and are skilled problem-solvers. I wanted the house to be more liveable and comfortable, while still honoring the antique details that had drawn me to the property in the first place. Pi Smith and Stephen Branchflower in particular not only listened to me all along the way, but heard me. They gave me exactly what I had hoped for. From a practical perspective, I needed to live in the house while this was going on, and they were sensitive to my need to carry on amidst the upheaval. They worked closely with the contractor, Lud Leskovar, to assure that I was comfortable and inconvenienced a little as humanly possible while the work was being done all around me. Smith & Vansant, Lud Leskovar and I worked closely as a team. The kept me informed as to costs all along the way and helped me make decisions that took into account my both budget and my dreams. They were endlessly patient and always kind. Everyone in this close-knit firm is a pleasure to work with, operates with the highest integrity, and knows what they are doing. “5 or 6 years we made a decision to relocate to Vermont and build. We interviewed several designers/architects and almost instantly had connection with Ray, he seemed to be what we needed. Our process was a long one, but Ray stuck with us. We stopped the project after for a while after we started with Ray and wasn't sure we'd come back. After a year or so we knew we wanted to jump back in. Ray picked us back up immediately. His attention to detail you'll find unmatched. He is great at suggestions and also adapting to his clients ideas. Soon after we started back we lost our builder. He helped us set up interviews and select a new builder. We started back up at the beginning of the covid pandemic , but Ray worked with us and we managed to visit door/window, flooring, countertops and cabinet vendors with his assistance. he was with us every step of the way. We were lucky to get one of the better builders in upper Vermont and he was very complimentary of Ray's attention to detail and guidance. Ray saw the project to its completion. We've been in over a year now and could not be happier with our finished product.”

“My wife and I built our dream home in Stowe, Vermont. Our relationship with Travis Cutler a partner at Donald Blake was most enjoyable, considering the size of this undertaking. We established a fixed price at the out set and knew any extras would be an additional cost. My wife who is an interior designer and who designed the whole house was very efficient and made sure all details would be submitted on time. So from the original estimation of 19 months the house was completed in 16 months. Our architect Cushman Design Group did not need to supervise, since he had complete confidence in the builders capabilities.
