“Short version: Peter is incredible, and you should hire him immediately. Longer version: We met him on a recommendation after another local landscape designer proved himself an utter disappointment. We have a cute little Craftsman cottage in Elmwood Village, and we wanted a native-heavy perennial garden with some entertainment space and a little spot for our puppy. Peter delivered, and then some! He effortlessly pairs practicality with a wonderful eye for design. The very first question he asked was, "How do you envision using this space?" From there, it was all about color, the level of maintenance we were comfortable with, what plants we loved (and didn't), what sort of hardscape materials we favored, etc. He heard every single thing that was important to us, and his plans reflected our priorities. He found unexpected ways to bring our vision to life and save some money along the way. But he didn't stop there... when he heard of our plans to install a small mural along our driveway, he found two local artists for us to consult. He gave us his best recommendation for a local contractor to handle the hardscape. And then he gave us names and tips for getting the best prices on plants from local growers. He was amazing every step of the way and I can't wait to tell everybody who comes to the 2022 Buffalo Garden Walk who helped make my garden gorgeous!”

“Anyone hiring a contractor these days does so with a certain amount of nervousness. There are so many stories of people being unhappy with the outcome or being left in the lurch after most of the investment has been made. I am happy to report that our experience working with Acorn was a pleasure from start to finish. We were looking for someone who would listen to our rough vision and translate it into something even better. Tom took the time at the beginning to really understand what we wanted and how it could work in our back yard. Once the work began, Tom and his team turned up every day that they scheduled – and on time every day. Tom was meticulous in preparing the site, so we know it is going to last many, many years. We couldn’t be happier with the finished garden. We just had our first backyard party and the guests all commented that it looked like the stream had always been there and that if they had a garden like this, they would want to spend all day sitting outside.”

“Ted Collins has landscaped 3 properties for us. Our current home has been a 10 year project where they have converted a field of weeds and rocks to a parkland setting unrivalled by most! Trees, shrubs, flowering plants that bloom just at the right time of year with complimentary colors that even Mother Nature cannot quite get right. Stone and paver walkways, iron gates, iron birdfeeder, a waterfeature, along with a gorgeous transition from a 3 tier paver patio to a roofed porch provides space for all who want to sit in shade, sun...near water and the birds, or just in the middle of it all and enjoy all the sensory experiences Ted Collins has created.. They even put in an aroma therapy garden - amazing. In the evening the lanscape lighting turns our yard into a twilight wonder!! The designers and the work crews demonstrated higtened expertise. They listened so well, checked in with me constantly, and asked time and time again if they had translated my wishes into my reality over the 10 year project. If ever anything did not work out as I had hoped, the flexibility and consideration we were shown was beyond measure. When people come to our house, the yard is the main focus. For our prior two homes landscaped and maintained by Ted Collins, the curb appeal was a big driver in getting our price when we sold them. Ted Collins is the only company I allow to "touch" my yard - they built it and they maintain it...this is what I tell those who compliment our yard.”
