“My husband and I built our retirement home high in the mountains north of Asheville. We were referred to Mason by a builder, and although we ultimately went with another builder, we stayed with him for our kitchen/baths. This was our dream home...log and timber, and I am an avid cook, but had NO idea how to begin designing a kitchen. I spent many mornings with Mason...he asked specific questions about how I cooked and organized, and my likes/dislikes. It came out better than I ever expected. We wanted a home that was sophisticated, yet rustic. He suggested knotty cherry that was perfect...also a black heirloom that looks really rustic (on my island and as a piece of furniture incorporated within the caramel colored cabinetry). Also, I knew I wanted something different above a 48 inch rangetop.... and we finally settled on a stone surround that mirrored our large stone fireplace in the great room across from it, , that included spice racks built into the stone on each side. I haven't mentioned yet that the prices were comparable to semi-custom- he was less than our Lowes estimate (for comparable materials). I went with his suggestions in the baths....particularly the Master, and all are beautiful. “Jessica Larsen is an amazing design professional. She brought a wealth of knowledge, experience and creativity to our house design. Before we started the project, we gave her a few photos of what we were looking for and she designed a beautiful structure that fits the site perfectly. The home is well situated to take advantage of the views and natural light, while also taking into account window placement for privacy from neighbors. The floor plan is efficient and flows very well, with comfortably sized room and with minimal hallway/wasted space. Throughout the design process, Jessica was very responsive to our questions and needs, and she was prompt with making revisions and changes. “Petit Construction did a complete exterior remodel for our home. This involved removing the old aluminum siding and original windows. They added rigid "green" foam insulation to the exterior walls and taped all the joints. They installed new windows by Andersen, new vinyl siding, and replaced all the soffits, fascia, and trim. The quality of the work and installation was top-notch. Our house is now much quieter and I'm saving money monthly on heating and air conditioning costs due to the better and tighter insulation. Further, by using Azek to replace all the exterior woodwork, I'll never have to climb ladders to repaint; approaching my late 60s' that's an important point for me. At the same time, they also replaced the roof shingles, vents, a skylight, and all the spoutings and gutters. The work was done very well. The new look is nicely coordinated and makes a much better presentation from the street. We love it!”
