“We engaged Martin while working rebuilding our home after a house fire. Our 1923 Shaker home had a lot of character and quality original craftsmanship. We met with multiple architects and selected Martin because of his clear communication, friendly demeanor, and his confidence that he could bring modern upgrades while preserving the feel and quality of an original Shaker Home. The scope of the project included redesigning the entire first floor as well as the bathrooms on the second and third level. It also included some significant structural changes that were required to bring the home up to modern code. Martin got to know us and our goals very quickly which helped to minimize rounds of change without rushing the process. He made suggestions that we would have never considered that made our home more environmentally efficient and ensured that the builders had specifications that prevented them from cutting corners. Martin connected us with a designer to ensure that electrical and lighting were considered early in the process which made it possible to have an efficient build. Martin participated in design reviews with the city and our general contractor to ensure that code and quality expectations were documented and followed. Having an independent architect was extremely valuable when we had concerns during the build. Martin told us that it was his job to clarify and ensure that the designs were followed when there were disagreements and he resolved multiple issues by meeting with the contractors directly. Having Martin as an advocate for our interests was more valuable than we knew when we originally hired him. For this reason alone, it was well worth it to have someone with Martin’s experience in older homes and with managing contractors involved during the build process. The final design that Martin created was elegant, efficient, and provides the benefits of a modern home while maintaining all of the original feel that we loved in our home. Martin was flexible and attentive while working with us and transparent about costs. Our build process was complicated further because of the insurance process but Martin was able to help us meet tight timelines and stick within budgets. Martin is an experienced professional who brings the confidence required to ensure quality results. He never rushed us and always had good ideas when we were stuck. He worked well with our other contractors, advocated for our wishes, and helped us understand potential budget implications when we made changes. Martin was also willing to meet and discuss questions or concerns throughout the process. Billing was straightforward and matched his estimates for each phase as we worked together. We would certainly recommend Martin to others and have already done so multiple times when people ask us about our home.”

“It was a pleasure to work with Asimou Architects & Design. We appreciated the fact that Anthony Asimou took the time to research our products, as well as the limitations, that we brought to the table. Anthony valued our sustainability commitment as well as our expertise and input and made adjustments accordingly, which in turn, kept costs down and further ensures a successful installation. Anthony made what could have been a very complicated process much easier for all parties involved. We are looking forward to working with Asimou Architects on future projects.”
Mark Reinhold, Architect

“Our project is a work in progress ... Since I've never been accused of being at a loss for words and since I know some will like the details and others just want the facts...I'll first give the facts...those of you who like detail can then read further... Facts: Mark Reinhold - awesome vision - easy and very laid back - great guy to work with - worth his weight in gold - we could not be happier with our home - would absolutely recommend him. And The Story: As a design professional - I've worked with many contractors and a handful of architects over the years - generally in other people's homes. Last Fall my husband and I moved "home" to OH after 14 long years in CA. When we left CA I left behind all of my "right hand men" - contractors that is. We purchased an 1835 home in Medina, OH which needed an interior facelift and I had to start from scratch to put together a team of people to help us accomplish the renovation. We knew that first and foremost we needed an architect that could see and share our vision - but where to find that person. Being a Houzz fan I decided to look there first. Enter Mark Reinhold. After searching through different architects and reading many reviews - I kept coming back to Mark. He seemed to have a love for old homes - something I knew we needed - and photos that he shared from projects were intriguing. I reached out to Mark the last week of December (we closed on the house 12/23) and he emailed me directly back. We made plans to meet at the house the end of the week. Meeting Mark is like meeting up with an old friend you haven't seen in a while - so easy and very laid back. We could tell immediately that he shared our love of the property. He was genuinely excited about the opportunity to work on our project. We discussed many different options for the home - enlarging the kitchen space - how and where to fit a laundry room and larger first floor bath were the main priorities. After our first meeting Mark put together a proposal which we readily accepted. Mark sketched several different drawings for us of the downstairs which included the priority list we had spoken about. Mark gave us sketches with our budget in mind that we had discussed. He also gave us sketches for a bit grander plan. Since the kitchen is the heart of our home - we ended up biting the bullet and increasing our budget to incorporate the grander plan! As I sit here today in this space I am eternally grateful to Mark that he sketched that grander plan!!! I absolutely love my kitchen!!! Mark also gave us options on the laundry and bath area. I tell people daily "this is why you need an architect" - Mark had a vision of how to use the area we had for those two rooms that I never pictured - because it's what he does and does very well. This long story will go on and on...Mark has sketched out a plan for the upstairs of this old house and a lovely porch...we have a large barn that needs his help...the long and the short of this story is Mark is a gem - we couldn't have done what we did here without him. He's got great vision - always happy to do one more sketch - he's genuinely interested in being part of this old house with us. There is lots of painting to do around here for the next few weeks. Photos to come once that is accomplished. Thank you Mark for all you've helped us accomplish over the past 9 months!! AND From the husbands point of view: My wife and I purchased an old farm house which was once the “H Homestead,” as we were told. The original house was built in 1835 and has had at least two additions since then. My wife is a decorator with terrific vision and had many ideas for how to use the interior space. My main concerns were function and structure. I wanted an architect on the project from the get go. Beth located Mark Reinhold via Houzz and set up a meeting with him soon after our purchase. Our original plan was to reconfigure the main gathering space and the kitchen. To do so, we had to remove a couple of walls, which revealed some structure damage from water and rodents over the years. Having identified some areas of damage, we agreed to completely gut the first floor in order to reveal any other issues with structure. With the walls opened up, Mark worked hand in hand with our framing contractor (Al Miller) to redesign two of the main beams in the gathering space. Mark prepared and stamped a complete set of structural plans to ensure that the house could withstand another test of 200 years. The interior design included features that were functional as well as aesthetically pleasing. For example: one of the main supporting beams was in the main gathering space. It had to stay. So Mark incorporated it into a column with arches demarking the sitting area for the fireplace, making a keeping room. The columns were also used as a chase for plumbing and electric utilities that needed to be routed to the second story, because with post and beam construction, pipes and wires can’t go up through exterior walls. The project was as much a work of art as it was a technical challenge for the architect. I would highly recommend Mark Reinhold to anyone who has an old home that they want to secure structurally, update functionally and maintain the original style.”
