“Santiago and Son and crew are the best painters I've ever hired. Their first project was to finish painting two of my upstairs bedrooms in the dead of winter. They did so in about six hours with utmost care (the rooms were not emptied) and remedied my inferior rolling with a seamless palette. And they were wonderful folks to get to know as well. Two years later, I asked them to paint the exterior of my house and barn, including two trim colors for each building. They made a first visit to power wash, vacuum, and reconnoiter the scope of the project. Then their team of five literally flew through the painting in four days. Unlike many other painters, they protected our plantings extremely carefully and vacuumed and picked up every little chip and drop of paint, old or new. Simultaneously, I was having one wall of my sagging barn rebuilt. Santiago volunteered to come back and paint the finished wall, having already primed both sides of the lumber going into place. He sent his two best painters and they spent an entire day carefully blending the new paint with the old. I will never hire another painter except Santiago and his family. They are exceptional craftsmen and really kind, gentle people to get to know and to joke around with. And I forgot to add that their rates are extremely competitive. Really, really reliable and skilled professionals!”

“My wife and I retained Down Under Faux to do the paintwork portion of a very extensive restoration of a Stanford White-designed carriage house in upstate New York. We were delighted with the results and can't say enough good things. Muriel Norman is quite exceptional. She's an artisan in the traditional sense. Those hands work real magic. The detail work is superb. From a client's perspective you're not fighting with an ego; you're working with a partner. Words that come to mind to describe her - responsive, listens well, thoughtful, constructive, creative, punctual. Her work-rate is prodigious and she's extremely versatile, setting her talents to challenges beyond the job at hand. If you want to decorate your house in a way that makes you smile every time you turn on the light, you need Down Under Faux. But, get in line. We're hoping that Muriel can shortly work some of her magic for us in a small mews house in Marylebone, England.”

“I was so tired of using different people/companies to clean and stain my outdoor deck, never using the same one twice. That is, until Joe Varno was contacted! He is a hands-on owner and completed the work himself, with the help of his great colleagues. From the first phone call to him, he returned the call pretty much immediately, then came by to scope out the project, and gave our sad-looking deck into a beautiful new look! This is the first time in the 20 years we have lived in our home that it looks so great! His follow-up and clean-up was icing on the cake; putting all of our deck furniture back in place. I am now really looking forward to the next project Joe will be doing for us -- removing wallpaper in our dining room and giving it an update with new paint. Now that I have finally found someone who is so talented and dependable, Joe is someone I will recommend to everyone I know!”
