“I'm a general contractor and had the pleasure of building an 800 sq. ft. home designed by Mo Whiteside and Kate Haley. I say pleasure because rarely do I find architects who put as much attention on detail as Mo and Kate do. The house is beautiful--well proportioned, quality finishes, and it incorporates advanced concepts in building science, which few architects remain current on. When questions arose around detailing (and they always do), Mo and Kate responded quickly so construction could continue without delay. In short, they have a great sense of design, knowledge of construction, and are easy to work with.”

“My wife and I hired Jim's firm to design and draw our home in Sebastopol. We are extremely happy we went to them. Jim's use of glass and space is incredible. I have been around construction my whole life and have played designer a little on other homes but we are so glad we went to a true professional who has the kind of experience, imagination and vision that Jim has. His price was very reasonable for the quality product that he delivered - way ahead of his proposed schedule we might add! The house went together smoothly exactly as drawn! “We wanted a small, affordable house on The Sea Ranch coast. We had seen Obie's designs and loved them. We at first felt that what we were hoping to build would be too small and our budget too limited for Obie to be willing to take us on as clients. Wrong. He seemed honestly excited about designing a special home on a small budget. Obie talked to us about what was important to us in our home. He studied our previous home and asked pertinent questions. He listened and then creatively put all of our wants into a home filled with creative touches that make it small, modest in cost, and special. We love the end result!”

“We used Patrick on two projects. We purchased a house and needed floor plans to submit to the county. Patrick worked with our interior designer to get the plans for county review. We were very pleased with our remodel project. We also had an ambitious plan to add a second garage and a funicular (incline elevator) from the new garage to the an upper deck. Patrick performed the conceptual design for the recently completed project. We enjoyed working with Patrick on both projects.”

“The Design and Building Works was key in obtaining my building permit from the City of Santa Rosa. I was in need of having drawings, plans, and specifications done for the conversion of my garage into a 1 bedroom unit, an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU). The Design & Building Works put together drawings and specifications that required only one review by the Santa Rosa Building Department in order to issue me the required building permits. The drawings were complete in regards to referencing all of the required building codes, specifications and on calling out all of the correct details. Ellen Picard, owner is really easy to work with, detailed oriented, and has a very good reputation with the City of Santa Rosa Building Department. I highly recommend her and I would hire again for any project without a second thought.”
