“After reading the August 2019 project review we felt compelled to give an account of our experience with Buck Mountain Construction, which is ongoing. We are building a small cabin overlooking Beaver Lake near Eureka Springs and live 9 hours away in Texas. Initially, knowing that we would not be able to be on site for much of the project, it was of prime importance that we be able to trust our contractor. After reviewing contractors we selected Kevin Courtney of Buck Mountain Construction. Our experience to this point with the project being 85% complete, has definitely met our expectations in regards to quality of work and sourcing of materials. In our meetings with Kevin he has been respectful of our input and open to changes we requested. From a trust standpoint, we feel as positive today as when the project began. “Straight Line Construction did an amazing job putting our home back together! There are at least 3 key areas where Thomas excelled that deserve highlighting: (1) The pre-reno demolition. Our home had to be taken back to the studs and drywall and insulation removed 4 feet up. He came with his own heavy-duty drying-out equipment, dehumidifiers and fans. This was a major job! (2) The design-phase. Thomas asked for our input and fully involved us in every aspect of the design. He did all the redesign himself and presented us with multiple drafts along the way. That saved us loads of money, as we did not have to involve a separate design team. (3) The craftsmanship of his execution. Thomas’ hands were all over each part of this rebuild. He made sure things were done right. He did not cut corners and insisted the subcontractors meet his exacting standards. Thomas rebuilt our flooded home and infused it with creative touches throughout. He took a thoughtful look at what we had (circa 2001) and made cost-effective suggestions to update it. He delivered a home that reflects who we are today and one that functions so much more efficiently. Thomas has an eye for taking what you currently have and transforming it into what you really want. He has a gift for seeing what a space can be and understands what his customers need. The layout of our family area is now truly family-friendly. The redesigned kitchen layout is so much more than we ever dreamed possible! The custom cabinets he installed utilize every bit of space. We especially love the larger island he designed. Thomas also recommended quartzite countertops because, while we love the look of marble, we did not want the worry of staining and etching that come with it. The newly designed island and kitchen create a space that draws you in and calls you to congregate with family and friends. Thomas suggested and built a wall in an area that was once a large, mostly unused, formal living and dining space. The wall now provides us with two spaces that are much more intimate and useful. He also installed French doors with a glass transom leading into one of the new rooms. That has created a private, cozy place to close the doors and relax. Thomas also listened to our request to replace what were formerly wood floors in the powder room with a beautifully patterned concrete tile. Thomas managed our project thoughtfully and professionally. He is creative, funny, and honest. We completely trust his judgement and plan to call on Straight Line Construction for our next home.
