We had never built a house before--nor did we think it was in the cards for us to do so--so we were complete novices when we began. Bruce was very patient with our lack of knowledge and did an excellent job of educating us on the process. Based on information he gathered from us, he presented us with an initial plan that matched our vision! After that, our discussions with him were primarily regarding materials and finishes. Our dealings with Bruce were done from a distance as we lived a half-dozen states away from our building site. Regardless of this, the process was seamless. Bruce also effectively acted on our behalf with the town Planning Board and Code Enforcement Officer. Without making a single change, they signed off on our plans the very night he presented them. He also participated in our meetings with prospective builders and made field trips to see their work. Additionally, he was very proactive on pursuing cost- and energy-saving options. We interviewed other architects before selecting Bruce. After the fact, one of the other firms asked us whom we selected. We told them and they said, "Bruce does great work, I think you'll be in good hands." There’s no question that we were!”

“I highly recommend Greater Portland Renovations. Originally, they did a rot repair job for us. Moisture got in under or front door and caused rot. They arrived to do the work on the scheduled day at the time promised. Even though the rot spread a bit further than expected, the cost remained within the estimated range. I was so impressed with the integrity of the company and kindness of the workers, that I also decided to hire them to install new hardwood floors in our home. As they were doing the job, they came across more rot under the back door, which we had no idea about. They took everything in stride. They repaired the issue right away, and charged us a reasonable amount to repair it. Our old floors were both glued and nailed down with a nail about every half inch of flooring. This was by means no easy job. They still managed to finish the job quickly, as they knew we were trying to sell our home. The floors were installed perfectly, and look amazing. “We have hired LakeHouse Design Build for several major projects at our lakeside cabin in Belgrade, Maine, and have been thrilled with the work done. Projects included a complete rebuild of portions of the main floor, including a new entrance porch, redesigned kitchen, bathroom, interior stairways, shelving, wiring updates, exterior patio, exterior stairways, and others. The work done was based on our wishes and requirements, but the design and details primarily reflected Mr. Bill Hudson's unique skills as a builder and designer. He communicated with us frequently and in detail, including regular photo project reports. He promptly involved us in any decisions, changes, or other planning information as the project progressed. His results have been wonderful for us - and are the source of constant favorable comments from neighbors, visitors, and others. We initially learned of his work from several neighbors whose projects reflected similar quality work from him. After researching area contractors before engaging this work, I had no doubt he was the best choice for our projects.
