“We worked with Garden Gate on two major yard renovation projects, in summer 2008 and fall 2010. From concept to completion, the entire team and experience, led by designer Cathy Carr, was first rate. I would describe us as "involved" clients and our input and feedback was welcomed throughout--including thoughtful understanding of parts of the project we wished to plant ourselves. The 2010 project involved many moving parts, including removal of existing concrete/asphalt driveway, stormwater flooding mitigation, installation of flagstone patio, water feature, stone steps and driveway pavers, as well as plant installation. When the following spring thaw revealed water seepage issues, they returned without hesitation to reroute drainage and solve the problem. The projects have transformed our outdoor living space and bring us great joy as we spend lots of time outside with family and friends.”

We get many compliments for our landscaping from passersby. Since we completed the work, we needed a repair after we backed our car into the stone retaining wall. The firm was responsive and repaired the damage at a reasonable cost.”

“We contracted with The Landscape Design Center to provide a consultation and subsequent installation of a full landscape lighting update. Although we already had landscape lighting in place for a number of years, as the trees and shrubs have grown we were feeling like the existing lighting did not accentuate the natural beauty of the property nor did it provide adequate path lighting on parts of the property. Our first step was to meet with a Landscape Designer from the Landscape Design Center. She was very knowledgeable with great and creative ideas..... Exactly what we needed. She not only designed the project but also managed the project from start to finish. She also coordinated with our electrician to ensure proper coordination with out Lutron System. In all aspects, she was outstanding! The installation itself was also outstanding. This was a complete makeover. So we expected the lawn and planting beds may be pretty torn up when the project was complete. We were surprised when that was not the case at all. All of the installation was done in a professional and clean manner. You can barely tell that we had any work done at all. The end result is amazing. The new lighting brings out all the best in the property. We can't wait until warmer weather when we spend more time outdoors and really get to enjoy it even more.”

“Water's Edge: I gave West Winds a free hand to both design and execute a complete hardscape and landscape plan. This included four patios, two artistic staircases( all of Tennessee Crab Orchard stone to match the house) plus landscaping of the entire front and back of house for a total of two acres( including 12 planting beds)and numerous trees, bushes and a huge variety of thoughtful flowering plants and grasses that give us year round color. West Winds complied with numerous restrictions due to the Chesapeake Bay Act and was able to mesh the complexity of the regulations with an artistic flair.
